We opted for a dual control mattress pad. Wife likes heat and I prefer cold.

Don't make the same mistake my wife and I did. We got our controls switched. I got cold in the night so I turned mine up, this made my wife hot so she turned hers down which made me colder and the cycle continued until morning. By this time I was freezing and she was burning up.
