Mildew stains

We ended up with mildue or mold dots on the interior of the tent trailer.
Any suggestions on how to clean it without harming the canvas?

Soft bristle brush. Warm water, maybe a touch of dish soap. If you caught it quick that should work.

Hi,

Once done, spray on some Concrobium Mold Control to kill any mildew spores. Let it dry. As usual, do a small test area first.

I use this in several places in my tent trailer. Once is on the cloth tie straps for window flaps. Moisture, or condensation can form and remain on the inside of the plastic windows, dampen the cloth straps and mildew appears. I just sprayed on Mold Control and let it dry. Kills the mildew. It does not remove the residue, which is why you should try gentle scrubbing first.

Mildew stains

My 2016 FR Rockwood Premier 2516g manual says to clean the canvass with Oxyclean. I've not tried it yet but need to.

talonakalu,

No one said it yet, so I will - don't use bleach because it destroys the waterproofing in the fabric. I had a popup that I bought a few years ago with a bad mildew problem because the previous owner put it away wet and dirty.

Oxyclean worked for me, but that bleach-free mildew stain remover I bought on Amazon worked better. Here it is: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FIIW7ZY

Happy trails,

CTSS

Surprised no one mentioned this either.. Forest River actually handed me a paper that said to ONLY use this mixture or they would VOID my warranty.

1/2 cup of bleach
1/4 cup of white vinegar
1/4 cup warm to hot water

Mix the 3 ingredients together and place into a spray bottle. Setup tents fully. Remove cushions, curtains, or any other soft goods. Spray the stained or mildewed area and let the solution air dry. Do not rub, scrub, or brush. If the problem is mildew it will disappear.

nouse,

And that kind of advice might be why FR has reduced their warranty coverage from 24 to 12 months.

I couldn't resist. I'll stand corrected. It's just that I've read several other sources that advise avoiding bleach because it can damage the canvas' waterproofing. The stuff I recommended smells a lot like bleach but contains no chlorine which what I believe can cause the damage.

Happy trails,

CTSS
