More tape or not

Hello all,

Well, I officially closed up our pop up the other day. Another great, but to short, camping season.

Anyway. I was touching up some caulk on a corner area and noticed this on the roof edge.

In case the picture isn't clear, it is the strip where the roof meets the side. It appears to me that some sort of eternabond tape was used under the corner molding. I had noticed these small cracks back in the spring but forgot all about them. The PUP has been through some crazy rain storms over the summer and never had one little leak. So I am not freaking out.

What do you all think? Should this small crack be addressed? There are a couple other places where I see this, too. Or not to worry because there is enough tape under that Conner molding.

Looks like a Butyl type sealant. Might want to run a bead of Dicor or Proflex. Proflex might be better since it won't run down the side trying to self-level like Dicor would.

Thanks for the reply. I thought about that proflex sealant. I have used that a couple times on horizontal areas, and ilafter sitting in the sun for several days, it starts coming up. Basically peels right off. Never used the dicor.

You can always try the non-leveling dicor. I've used on some vertical surfaces and it works just fine. Just clean the surface beforehand.

I've used Proflex on all my vents for sealing and I only wish it would lift off after a year so it would look better.
What ever sealant you use, make sure to clean the roof and clean it good.

I usually wipe it down with a wet rag, dry it off, then clean thoroughly with alcohol.

Methal hydrate aka gas line antifreeze to wipe off any residue before sealing will assist in bonding.

I use good old reliable dishwashing soap, dry off, then clean with a damp rag, and sometimes, if really dirty some alcohol. Let air dry and apply sealant. Never had proflex or Dicor come off without using heat and a plastic scraper.

Usually use Proflex around the vents opening, but lately have switched to Dicor just because it looks better afterward due to it self leveling.

A highly respectable repair shop told me that they have used 3 m gen purpose adhesive remover for years - costs about 20 per quart but lasts forever-have used it and it cleans- just dampen a rag- soak and rub area - I purchased it at a auto paint supply store
