move my pop up by hand?

Hello,

My family getting 1970ESP at this October!! Very exciting.
As first time pop up camper, I have some question.

Since I don't want to spend for parking, we choose 1970esp which fit into my garage. but I'm not sure I can pull/drag pop up by hand.. I googled and saw some people using tug dolly and I think I will get it as well. But my concern is there is little bit of slope at the enterance of my garage
I'm not sure I have enough strength to go over with it. Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

The are a lot of powered dollies available and a smaller one should work

Or if you have one or two people to help push that works too, steer an push with the dolly and the other push on the corners of the camper

Why not back it into the garage with your Tow Vehicle (TV).

Seems you would simply back it into or pull it out of the garage with the vehicle you’re going to tow it with. Or is there some height restriction or obstruction that prevents that?

Get one of these from HF:

Your popup's tongue weight should be light enough.

We use this one. It makes moving the PUP around on grass real easy:

Backing in with your tow vehicle is fraught with damage potential. Use the hand or a powered dolly. There are electric models that will plug in inside the garage.

My advice, try it!! you'll either have enough strength to push it up or you won't. Not like you have to worry about moving it from a level place to downhill and have to stop it. You are trying to push from a level spot to go uphill.

Just a minor comment. If you don't use a tongue dolly and you are pushing the PUP on it's tongue jack wheel, "Crank it down". This will reduce the strain on the tongue jack column.

If you have a small tractor or even a riding lawnmower, you might be able to install a ball hitch to the front of it. Makes moving lightweight trailers a piece of cake.

The 1970ESP is listed with a hitch weight of 234 lb. Check your lighter weight vehicle limits if you try this. Just saying.

with practice.. it gets easier to back up those smaller trailers even up a slope.

BUT some days the little bastards just don't want to co-operate
sit back, have a few, then try again later.

I find that it is much easier to back my 30' TT than it is to back one of the little U-Haul trailers, that's for sure!

I don't know of any hand dolly or tug dolly (electric) that would provide more clearance than what your tow vehicle should for "a small slope." And even the smallest of pop-ups can be heavy enough to get away from you using a manual dolly if it more than a small slope. I hope you have help?

You are going to have to learn to back up your R/V sooner or later.
Start out in a church parking lot or in a large box store parking lot trying to back into a painted parking space.
Go slow and easy and you will get the hang of it quickly with practice.
Soon you will back into your garage without even thinking about it.

Good luck and enjoy!

X2!! they are hopelessly jackknifed before you even see them in the mirrors.

My concern would be with what happens if you can't push it the slope with the dolly.... or if you get partway up and the pop up moves back toward you.

Walmart has a motorized one for under $300.

It would be a lot cheaper and safer to take the time to learn to back it into the garage. It's a challenge. We had a 20' trailer that we backed into a storage garage and it took forever to learn how to do it with the narrow driveway, but after much 'blue air' at first, we did learn how to do it.
