We loved ours. I wish sometimes I still had it. Laziness and age sent us to a travel trailer. We had some awesome times in ours. Rule 1. check those latches. Rule 2. check those latches. Don't ask how I know this.:-)

After reading a lot of stuff on here I understand why your saying undo latches, even the dealer said make that is rule #1 and 2 and don't forget to undo the latches. I raised the top to get some stuff out for the first time and must have walked in circles 10 times to make sure I did them

DW and I didn't trust each others eyes so we both walked around it twice and put our hand on the latch. Call it paranoia if you want to but having been a service tech and having to re-string those cables can be a pain. I cut a 2X4 the length of a fully extended lift arm just in case I popped a cable. That was so the trip wouldn't be ruined. Enjoy your new pup. You will love it.

On our Rockwood 2318G with a slide out we put one of the back cushions, vertically, in between the benches, followed by the two seat cushions laying flat. It is a bit of a tight squeeze, but they go there. The remaining back cushion is kept on one of the bunk ends until everything is pushed back in place, at which point there is a nice spot on top of the slide, just between where the bunk ends come back together to lay it flat. Hope that helps.

Yep. Definitely watch them latches. I make one final walk around to all the latches just before I begin cranking it up.

But enjoy it. The 228 is a pretty decent layout and fairly comfortable for a popup. I know I'm getting itchy to get mine out of the driveway...
