I don't think that you can purchase just the motor, you may have to buy the whole winch (about $400). I have read where some have used 12V winches from Harbor Freight. Just be careful as it would not have any limit switches on them. The Powerwinches seem to be trouble prone, I have had three.

We replaced ours with a manual crank and it's perfect. Very easy to convert and no more risk of motor not working and having to use the risky manual motor back-up. Too many issues, went back to basics and works like a charm.
We wound up doing the same thing. Husband and neighbor installed manual crank yesterday. So relieved as we are giving it to our neighbors since we have moved on to bigger and better. They already booked this weekend and I was panicking with it not opening. Thank you!

Excellent. You won't be disappointed. Way more reliable and I have lower cost.
Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm impressed with the response. I found an RV place in Marysville, WA that can order from Powerwinch a replacement motor for about $400. I think I shall get it as it will hold better trailer resale value. I am intimidated by the mechanics of replacing it, looks tough, so i guess it will go into an RV shop.
