New Rockwood Tent 2318G - Coupler Hight

Hello,

I am brand new to the Camping world in USA, just moved over from Germany.

Although I grew up with camping and Caravans - here in US is everything bigger greater and simply really fascinating and - related to RV's and Camping a lot of things simply different.

I am waiting for my new FR Rockwood Tent 2318G. To prepare the correct trailer hitch for it, I would highly appreciate if somebody who has this camper, or an comparable would be so nice to measure the hight to the bottom of the coupler.

The 2318G will be towed by a Mazda CX-9 with a 13 inch high to the top-inside of the receiver tube

Thx so much and looking forward for a great time with the 2318G & here in the forum.

Marc

Welcome to camping! Sorry I don't have access to my camper at the moment, but when I get home tonight I'll try to remember to make the measurement (we have the same model). Feel free to message me as a reminder in case I forget :-) .

In case you don't have the info: the camper uses a 2 inch ball. You can also get an adjustable hitch...I use this unit:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When towing with the Colorado (truck), the hitch pin for the ball is set to the top hole. When we tow with the Durango (suv), it gets lowered by one hole. So, if you concern is getting the camper level (as I was when I first bought mine), then an adjustable hitch might be just the thing.

Not sure if it helps but I have a 2317 G and on ours the bottom of the coupler is 16" off the ground when level.

I have a similar tow vehicle- Acura MDX and the standard 6” raise wasnt enough for me- I had to switch it out for an 8” raise to life my popup enough. I have the 15” off road tires on my popup- not sure if you have the same tires as well on your new popup.
