No battery power

2006 palamino tt shore power works. No power when on battery, except for the pump. Battery is new. Checked fuses, lines etc. Reset gfi. Still no power. No power when plugged into vehicle. We are thinking it may be the converter. Any one have any ideas of what it might be?

It takes a WFCO 8725. What is the difference between a 8725 and an 8725P converter?

The pump is 12v. So it's getting 12v power. Specifically, what is NOT working?

The only thing that works off the battery is the pump. The lights, outlets do not work. It’s too hot outside to see if the furnace works. It’s on a thermostat and won’t kick in.

Pump is 12 volts. All outlets are 120 volt and will not work unless you have an inverter.

So likely the invertor needs replacing is what you are saying?

No most RVs don't normally come with an inverter unless they have a residential fridge. Inverters take 12 volts DC and make 120 volts AC. Converters take 120 volts AC from shore power and make 12 volts DC.

I seriously doubt that a 2006 Palomino TT has an INverter, unless a former owner installed one.
As was said, outlets are 110v AC only and only run on shore power or generator power.
What doesn't make sense is the 12v pump works but 12v lights and 110v outlets don't work. They are on two separate electrical systems.

My thinking is that because the converter is a 3 way converter, that one of the systems in the converter is shot. The lights/outlets used to work on battery. The fan inside the converter does not work either, and it if there was power connected, either battery or land power.

The fan always worked if there was land or battery power..

Some of the things you are stating do not make sense so let's try to figure them out...
1. CONverter -vs- INverter
A CONverter converts 120v AC shore power to 12v DC and used when plugged into shore power. It also charges the battery.

An INverter inverts 12v DC battery power to 120v AC and used when NOT plugged into shore power to supply small amounts of 120v AC power. (typically a residential refrigerator and maybe a television but almost never all outlets. (there are some exceptions on large 5th wheels and motorcoaches/motorhomes)

Your WFCO 8725 is a CONverter only so it only converts 120v AC to 12v DC when it is plugged into shore power....
AND...
It cannot power the 120v outlets when not plugged into shore power.

When you say it is 'three way' I'm guessing you are confusing the three charging rates with something else.

2. Since the pump is 12v DC, it is working off the battery. (and possibly the converter too)

3. As for the lights, they 'should' work if the pump works since the lights are also 12v DC but without some basic tests we really cannot say why.

4. You will have NO power to the 120v outlets when plugged into your vehicle because just like the CONverter, your tow vehicle supplies only 12v DC. it does not supply 120v AC.

I have no clue why you say the fan in the CONverter ran when on battery or shore power because when on battery, the CONverter does nothing. At that point it is simply a connection point between the battery and the 12v DC circuits/appliances so there is no need for a fan.

If you bought this used, then maybe someone added a separate INverter and you are confusing it with the CONverter?

No my trailer has the WFCO 8725 converter. My phone changed the word converter to invertor.
The lights, converter fan all ran on battery power for a number of years. Now they do not run on battery power. On shore power everything works except the fan on the converter.
We have tested fuses, checked wires, checked grounds, checked switches, the battery, in line fuses.. can’t find anything. We are stumped

Do you mean the water pump or the levelers / slide-out pump works off the battery? If your levelers / slide-out pump it is connected directly to the battery with it's own inline fuse.

How are you checking the fuses? Visually (not reliable) or a meter?

1) In your circuit breaker / fuse panel there are 2 or 3 30 to 40 amp reverse polarity fuses, these are what protects your converter if you install the battery backwards. See second picture.

2) Either near your battery or near the circuit breaker / fuse panel there could be a battery disconnect switch. See pictures 2, 3 or 5.

3) On the front of the tt, either inside your hitch a-frame or on the first cross-member, there is a resettable breaker with a small button to reset it. You need to follow the positive cable from the battery to the body of the tt to find it. See fourth picture.

If any of these are tripped, blown or turned off you can experience the problem your having.

No this is on a tent trailer not a travel trailer. We don’t have a battery shut off switch. We have checked the entire frame, and followed the wires. Checked the fuse panel and all around it.

No battery power

Is your roof up or down? Some tent trailers have a roof pin switch that fan and lights won’t work if roof is down. Check to see if you have that an if there is resistance on both sides.

Roof is up. Checked the pins under the sink and they seem to be ok. We can’t get at the wires under the sink pedestal to check them visually, but traced them with our hands and they seem good.

Your first post you had "2006 palamino tt", "tt" means "travel trailer". Your tent trailer is a popup.

The fan for the converter will not run unless you are plugged into shore power. Usually the fan will only run when the converter is under heavy load.

That being said, have you checked the safety switch which prevents power to the lights when the popup's roof is down. It could be on the counter if you have a fold-up sink or on a side wall.

Another hint is you need to be checking things for voltage with a meter rather than just visually.

We have used a voltage meter, as well as visual and tactile when we couldn’t see the wires.. We had a mechanic here for 4 hours yesterday helping us out and he couldn’t find the issue.

Moved to the Tent Camper/Popup section since the OP has a popup, not a TT (travel trailer).
