Opinion: Lumitronics Bunk-End Light/Fan Combo

We have a 2017 Forest River Flagstaff MAC 176LTD and we are about to embark on our maiden voyage to NH this weekend. I recently installed the Dometic Brisk Air II AC unit, and I have some thermal covers coming for the bunk ends, but from what I've been reading, we may need some fans to move the air around in the cabin to really benefit from using the AC.

I found these little guys...does anyone have any experience with them? Are they worth the $25 price tag? I'm a big fan of "OEM" style clean installs, and the fact that they mount to the bunk rod and plug into a factory 1/4" jack is enticing. I'd rather not have a table fan sitting somewhere taking up valuable real estate. I'm sure the light will be plenty in a darkened cabin, but I'm more concerned with the power of the fan...can you feel it or are they weak?

Thanks in advance! I am loving this forum.

Popups and hybrids have these.
They're standard in all FR hybrids. Or at least they were for years.
We used ours all the time.

They work well, I have them in my hw296, Forest River has gotten cheap it only came with one and had to order another one.

And make sure you order the right one, the plug style has changed. If this is an older light/fan combo the plug might not fit. Forest river sells them as well, I believe mine was $28.00 the shipping.

Used them on both our previous popup and hybrid and they do work well moving the air around. Besides the thermal covers for the bunk ends you might consider doing the Reflectix mod for the bunk end window areas too.

We use ours too, and the fans are worthwhile. I like the extra light, and I would't buy one that wasn't LED. Big difference in the amount of light. I think the ones in my 2017 Rockwood might be 1/8" jack, not 1/4". Be sure to check which one you need.

That's cheaper than getting them through dealers. They work ok. IMHO they are too noisy, especially the low volume of air they move. For now I use the two OEM's and test any I find anywhere else to see if it is quieter or moves more air. As of yet nothing.
I found a much bigger 12V table fan that was good... but would look awful mounted to a wall and taking limited table or counter space doesn't work either.

Not to hijack the thread, but I will.

Anyone ever try and use a splitter and run 2 off one outlet?

We have a 2017 Rockwood 1640 ESP and it did not come with these... Is this what that white dome thing on the ceiling on each end is for?

Yes the "dome" is for 12V power. The fans use a 1/4 inch plug like a mono set of headphones.

here's a cheap QUIET 110v 2 spd fan (only) option I'm using

I use this combo clamp-on/table top fan attached/clamped to the facing frame of our bed slide whether we're closed up using the AC or windows open for fresh air ventilation. I'm one who NEEDS to have some air movement to sleep comfortably and this set-up works perfectly for me. Walmart carried this one a few years ago and I see there are still many similar styled fans still available on their site.

I received two when I bought my pup. At least they never charged me for them. My wife used her fan quite a bit last week. They do help move the air. I think that there is a high and low fan speed setting. The extra light for each bunk end was a bonus.

Oh wow! These are nice! I wonder if my 2014 Flagstaff MAC 228 has the correct ports to connect them. I'll have to check next time I pop it up! (This weekend!)

We had those for both our popup and our Roo hybrid. They worked but we preferred to use one or two 12" table fans that would more more air and could oscillate. They're cheap at Walmart. Air movement is the key to help prevent condensation. The thermal blankets or Popup Gizmos work great, too.

light/fan

Have a pair for our Rockwood 1940 pup. Work well as has been described. Bought extensions for occasional use outside under awning. Wish they came with LED bulbs! Are the newer models using LED? Good investment!

Ordered two of these when we signed for our camper. On one of them, the fan stopped working within the first few uses. Waiting for a replacement. The other one is still working great.

Are your bulbs LED or incandescent?

I'll check the next time I have it popped up, which may not be until next week.
