Pop up warranty work
Last Labor Day, we bought a Flagstaff HW27KS. We bought it in Indiana because it was $4k cheaper than here in NJ. There is one local dealer that multiple friends have used and haven't been happy with. The other local dealer has stated since we didn't buy it from them, they don't have to do warranty service for us. Any other ideas or do we just head back to Indiana? Thanks

Have you ask FR about the narrow minded dealers status with them?
For now looks like where you got it at is the option.

Contact this guy - Sam Buckles - sbuckles@forestriverinc.com - (574) 642-8901. He is the warranty administrator for the tent campers and should be able to call the dealer's bluff if that's against FR policy.

Ahhh..the owner's manual clearly says to deal with your dealer for warranty matters.

After what we saved, I have no problem go back to my dealer. I'll still be way ahead. The local dealer wouldn't budge off of their price. We tried to get them to meet us 1/2 way. They never offered to come down any. Probably because they're trying to monopolize off of the warranty. Thanks for the contact name, email Addy, and ph#!

I would still contact the FR warranty rep. He should be able to give you the contact info for a shop closer to you that is FR approved for warranty work and willing to work on a unit they did sell.

I ran into this problem having purchased my popup in Denver, and wanting it serviced in Grand Junction. I talked with Buckles and his solution worked great.
There was a Rockwood dealer who refused to do any warranty work and a Flagstaff dealer that no longer sold popups, but would service it, but I had to pay, since they would not submit a warranty claim.
After the repair, I scanned in the receipt for payment, emailed it to Buckles and about a week later, I was reimbursed the entire amount.
He was great to work with, and Flagstaff (FR) paid fast.

I have had good luck contacting him too. He has called back right away and answered questions for me. I know what the owners manual says but I find it hard to believe that they would refuse to work on it. I mean, they still get paid. I can understand that they would not put yours in front of their customers campers, but come on. I can see why you didn't buy from them. I like the idea of paying for another FR and getting reimbursed. Isn't the drive from NJ to IN a haul? Guess camper warranties don't work like car warranties, thank goodness. Good Luck!

I did contact Mr Buckles & he basically told me to contact Rockwood dealers in the area & see if they would choose to do it, as they don't have too. I ended up taking it to CW in Lakewood NJ

Pop up warranty work
Update: ended up at CW, who, after having our pup 2 weeks, told us we should have taken it back to the dealer. Told us they had to order parts & would call us when they came in. That was 2 months ago. Our phone messages to them now go unreturned. Also, local Rockwood dealer won't do warranty work on it. So much for that suggestion Mr Buckles. Heading back to original dealer next month.

Have you tried contacting a local RV repair center that doesn't sell RV's... And see if they would be interested in warranty work? I had to do this and it worked out well. The repair center contacts Forest River and they work out the cost. The work is completed... You pay the RV center... The original dealer pays you... Forest River pays your original dealer.

That is too bad they have to be so difficult. Best of luck. Sorry you have to go back to the Indiana dealer to get the work done. I just had to take mine back yesterday to my dealer who is 2 hours away to get some warranty work done so I understand your pain having to go but this was the closes dealer to us so it is either fix it myself or let them do it. I had some small stuff and a couple bigger things so we just took it up there.
Not sure what is wrong with yours but is it something that you will be able to take over and have the fix in one day? Or are you going to have to leave it with them? Will be a long day for you for sure and maybe you can even make it a camping night if it is just a one day repair. That is how mine ended up being. The other stuff has to be ordered and we have to come back later this fall.

It's a really bad policy on the face of things, but it protects the local dealers from cut-rate sellers that shall remain unnamed.
Just be thankful you don't live overseas! LOL
