Single Propane to Dual Propane - How to Mount on 2318g Pop Up

Hello everyone,

This past weekend we picked up a Rockwood 2318g with electric lift and a single propane bottle mount. How do we go about attaching a second 20lb propane tank on the hitch so it looks something like this:

We would like to go from single to dual so we can run a fridge, furnace, water heater and stove for a few days at a time.

We only use one tank all summer.
And since we mainly dry camp, we also run those 4 things on propane.
But we have dual 20lb tanks.

Just wondering why you already empty one tank in just a few days.:what:

However, I'm with Bikendan, hard to go through a tank in one year time. If dry or dispersed camping; batteries are more important.

Hey Guys, really enjoy your replies, thank you. I am not running out with one tank, I actually have no idea how long it will last. i bought the camper 3 days ago and set it up in my driveway. i have no idea how long 1 or 2 tanks will last.

We are heading through the Midwest, possibly to California and definitely up to Banff. So we will experience hot and cold during August according to the weather charts.

• Upper 90's for part of our trip and down to 44 F at night in Banff.
  
• I am installing a Dometic Brisk 2 13.5 AC with 5k heat on Friday.
• We also have a gas furnace.
• Switching interior bulbs to LED, using one battery.
• Don't expect more than 4 days dry.
• Wanted 2 tanks so I am not guessing when empty.

you will also need something similar to this, unless you just want to pack a tank somewhere and change it out when you run dry

I added these 2 items to my shopping cart on Amazon. Now I have to figure out how to attach the dual tank bracket to the trailer. Do you use J-hook bolts, U-bolts? Do you need to drill?

I did that exact installation on a small camper in 2014. I secured it with u bolts. You also might want to have a double stage auto-switch over propane regulator, so you can have automatic switch over when one tank runs dry. Then all you need to do is check periodically for the red indicator, flip the switch over and take off the empty to fill it. You don't have to worry about running out in the middle of the night. I bought everything I needed on Amazon. I think the regulator was about $30, but you need the pigtail hoses too. Good luck.

Not sure if this issue will come up for you, but when we bought our previous 2514g several years ago, we also added a 2nd propane tank. They used the same dual tank platform everyone is suggesting, but had to add some steel square tubing underneath to raise the platform up because the frame was getting in the way. I don't have any picture unfortunately.

Hopefully you don't need it, but in case you do, that's how it was done on ours and it worked well.
