Thinking about buying a pop up

Hello everyone! I saw a 2017 rockwood premier 2514G at a local rv dealer and was wondering what people think of those. Has the dinette pop out and a bay window pop out. I would also have the dealer add A/C as well.

We purchased a 2514G in 2015 and absolutely love it for the most part. The room is amazing. The dinette easily seats 4 and 6 can work without difficulty. We added a 2.7ft fridge that fits great on top of the dresser by the door. We also put 3inch memory foam toppers on the beds which are great. Have to roll the queen one up and put it under the dinette when closing up. Then we have to pull the king topper towards the center after the bunks are slid in so the top closes up. A bit of work but very comfy for sleeping. The a/c is great and a good option. Also like the j couch for lounging. Drawbacks are the king bunk on the front is hard to pull/push because it is heavy and the tongue and tank(s) along with the storage trunk are in the way.

We had a pop-up for years and recently went to a bumper pull. It was great with small kids. However, when they got older (we have 4) it was a pinch and on top of that there is a lot of work.

Granted, they've come a long way since the 2002 we previously owned but some of the basics are likely the same.

Everytime you go camping plan on setting it up 3 times. Once to get all your stuff loaded, once when you get there, and once when you get home to unload and let everything dry out well (mold is a big issue if you don't). Also, we had difficulty storing all of the necessities clothing, food, etc in the camper when towing it so it pretty much needs to all go in the vehicle with you.

Don't get me wrong, I loved our Pop-up (for a while and it had its purpose) but I do like being able to pull in a site, drop the hitch and level it out and the go inside (because we can store everything in there while towing). Much easier than before and faster to set up as well.

We just bought a 2014 high wall 277 love it we are actually able to store a screen tent inside it with all of the clothes and a cooler I would recommend the hw model if you have the tow vehicle for it

Skip the pop-up and go straight to the travel trailer.

I have a 2516g. I love it. Almost got the 2514 but didnt like the empty space behing the galley

Wouldnt dream of going to a tt. We have set up down to a system and are done in under 30 minutes. Love how all of the windows open for fresh air always flowing thru the pup

Absolutely. We had a popup for 13 years before going to the hybrid. Ours also had the slideout dinette which made the interior very roomy. Popups are easy to store, easy to tow (even without a huge truck), and fit into a lot of great spots where larger rv's can't. Having a lakefront site with all the canvas open was always the highlight of the summer.

And after 13 years, we ended up selling it for about $4,000 less than we paid for it. Can't say that about many rv's!

Great choice we have a 2016, 2516G. We love it, some work but that's what makes it fun!

We can't wait, we like to tent camp in the desert in the winter, so this will be great, especially with a toilet onboard

My grown children's best memories of childhood was camping in our pop-up. Wouldn't trade those experiences for anything.

We bought a 2002 Rockwood Premier 2518G last summer and love it. The table slides out so gives us a lot of room in the trailer. Some friends have travel trailers and can't get over how much room we have for storage, etc. compared to their travel trailers. This is easy to tow behind the truck... no wind resistance. Bought a port-a-potty this summer for night time. We have it up or down within 45 minutes or less.

Congratulations! I think you're going to love it.

I've heard a couple of folks talk about packing and unpacking 3 times. I keep my trailer in storage, so I keep items to a minimum. I take clothes, food, some and bedding with me, while the rest of the items stay in the trailer.

The morning of the last camp day, I wipe down the inside, sweep, vacuum, and drain water if needed. I close it up and store so it's ready for the next trip.

It really doesn't take long at all. Just try to keep the camper clean while you're out there.

Had two pop ups very versatile. AC good choice We carried and still do carry a box fan and small ceramic heater. Later carried a 2 cubic ft fridge. You ll enjoy and will have great times. Make sure you USE IT!!!

We do the same....all we have to pack is the food for the camping trip and clothes. Everything else stays in the trailer for the camping season.....

This is a new beginning for you, congratulations! Had a 1980 freedom for about 10 years, my kids grew up with it. I learned so much with it. One of the last trips, we were watched and applauded by a nice older couple in the campsite across from us. They said I could definitely manage a trailer, based on all the stuff we did to carry bikes and kayaks and camp set up with a canopy, bins, cooler, and all. After that I checked some trailer options out, and we have a Roo we love. The best of both campers combined.
