Are you using "Pink" Teflon tape? That is the only one rated for potable water.

Yeh, Pink tape is just thicker and harder to find.

My White Teflon Tape is potable water safe tape but I honestly don't remember where I bought it. I do believe I got it from menards at the price stated on the link below though.

This Menards white teflon tape is stated for potable water.

Time marches on. I purchased my Pink teflon tape many years (maybe decades) ago when it was the only one rated for potable water and when teflon tape was only produced by a few manufactures. I still see a slight reference to it on the internet.

I really can not find anywhere that generic white teflon tape is rated for Potable water.

So, in conclusion, it your teflon tape manufacture say it is rated for potable water it should be OK. However, some older or unknown source of white teflon tape may not be.

PS: Applied properly any white teflon tape, should not produce any more exposure to toxins as drinking from one of the original plastic water bottles or hot beverage in the original Styrofoam cups.
