Toy Hauler Popup - How much space do you need?

So I have a Rockwood 282TESP. Just me. Why? Because I need the front rack to hold a Ural Sidecar Motorcycle. I asked Rockwood if they would consider maybe using the 1910ESP or 1640ESP model and adding the 105"x 84" front rack. They said it probably wouldn't happen because it's a specialty.

My question to you is how much living space do you use? I wish I had smaller bed sizes, maybe a single or full size bed. Maybe one that sleeps 2 folks in a full size bed and a single spare bed. I like my stove, sink, toilet, and shower. However, I don't need a camper that sleep 6-10 children. I'm sure there a plenty of other singles or couples who are thinking the same thing.

I was wondering how hard it would be to modify the Rockwood 1910 by adding a front rack that is maybe 84" x 84"? Or could it be taken off its chassis and put on a flatbed?

Also I've attached a few photos of ideas I've seen. Maybe we single folks could get together and manufacture our own smaller tent trailer toy haulers.

its no exactly a popup, but a Cherokee WolfPup 17RP is exactly what you described. it comes in under 22 feet and GVWR of 5500lbs.

this is a couples trailer with a wet bath. front bed is a FullXL (we are big people, we fit fine), "bunk" above, its just a shelf to us, and a folding couch in the back that is twin size. it would fit your bike perfectly and keep it out of the elements and set up/take down is pretty easy too. would work well as a single person camper and allow a buddy to come with along with their bike too.

I totally agree. I have a Flagstaff HW31SCTH and it's just me. I thought oh I would or could host friends. Forget that. I like my privacy. But it is huge just for me. My biggest issue is finding places when I'm staying in a campground. I need 32' of space plus another 20 for the truck.

@IsleDog - I still like the idea of tent camping. It feels a little more open. Maybe one day I'll switch over to a camper. Also, I think the back toy hauler door on the camper only opens to 60" wide. My bike is 63" wide.

@brwarrior - I never had any intention of hosting friends, I just need to transport my sidecar. When a group of us used to tent camp, we all had our own tents. No one got a huge tent so we could all sleep together. I think couples like their privacy and so do single folks.

I had considered putting my A Frame on a flat bed trailer so I could carry both of my motorcycles, but opted to simply put a hitch carrier on the back of the existing A Frame so that I can still tow with my SUV. The Yamaha WR250R is a very capable dual sport, and I carry two sets of wheels/tires for either street or mixed surface riding. I usually travel for 2 months a year, and the rig has served me well for the past 5 years.

I have ridden dual sport runs with the couple who own this:

They do quite well on dirt roads and trails.

That's a Ural GearUp, I'm pretty sure. I don't know if you want to consider getting one, but they sure are loads of fun. Are you in California? I want to go trail riding with mine. Haven't done it yet.

An A-frame trailer on a flatbed trailer could be perfect one person that needs to haul a big bike or golfcart. I've never owned an A-frame camper, but they do look cozy, plus nice and dry without any canvas.

@rmac04401 - I still like they idea of tent camping, but I might be able to do the A-Frame on a flatbed idea.

And....I was also wondering if I could swap out my king-size bed for a full-size bed in my pop-up. I'm going to ask Rockwood if I can change the large slide out for a smaller one. I can also replace the windows on that side to match the full-size slide out.

My A Frame came with a 80X56 Queen (4 inches narrower than a full Queen). After about 150 nights of use it was sagging in the area where I sleep. We had an extra long twin (80X39) that we were no longer using, so I put that in as a replacement. I use the extra space to hold plastic storage boxes with socks, underwear, towels, etc. It works very well.

That's a good idea. I might end up with that option.
