Water drain valve

I have bought 2 of these Water drain valves and both leak from the top. Cheap soft plastic is not making me feel good about this. Any one know of a better quality valve?
What about a brass one? Just nervous the brass might strip out the plastic threads.

Of you are worried about the thread, insert a short piece of schedule 40 plastic pipe and then screw a brass valve to that.
