Winch problem

I’m having trouble getting my winch to open the top. It tries briefly but gives feel of not enough power flowing to it and quickly peters out.

I know my battery is shot and needs replacing, but am unsure if it comes into play when plugged into shore power which I am. I’m thinking it must be though as if I let it sit for a few hours plugged in it then opens fine.

Can anyone confirm if the battery is still utilized when on shore power?

The shore power converter doesn't give you enough amps to lift that roof. I had this happen on my old pop-up. When it started lugging going up, I knew to check the battery.

Your battery still needs to be halfway decent to lift the top. In a pinch, borrow the good one from your car (or some other 12-volt vehicle). Disconnect the Rockwood battery, hook up your car battery. Once it is up, disconnect the car battery and hook back up your Rockwood battery (reinstall the battery in your car).


You really need to replace your battery.

Thanks for confirming! Just what I needed. Will get a new battery this weekend and be done with this problem.
