Winch to pop up top stopped working

It worked well before and for whatever reason it no longer does, pushing the button makes no sound at all. I had the camper plugged in and nothing... I even tried jumping the battery and nothing. Any ideas?

There may be a fuse in the winch. Do you know the make and model of the winch?

Check the fuses...on mine, if the battery gets too low, then a certain fuse always blows and the battery will not charge leaving a dead winch. I solve this with a pair of jumper cables that I always have with me.

If the battery has charge, then it could be a fuse/circuit breaker thing that is down underneath the frame in some.

If that doesn't work, then not sure...mine has a cutoff switch that turns it off so it does not overheat, but I usually just let it sit a few seconds and it works again. If it is broken, it could be the problem.

I have a 2007 flagstaff 227 popup. And when I first bought it there were times that I would have to manually turn the shaft with the override nut and then the motor would start working again. It the lower setting on the motor is not set properly and it goes too far down then it might just need the couple of turns on the nut to start it again. When it acted this way it seemed as if there was no power going to the unit. I recently replaced the motor on my trailer because it was under powered for the roof and the a/c unit. Good luck.

I had a wire that kept coming loose on my last trailer. Pull the housing apart and check the connections at the switch.

Definitely check the wiring. that is usually the problem. You probably just have a short someplace.

Good luck.

Vin.

I have 2007 rockwood freedom popup and the electric lift will only lower the roof once I have manually raised the roof. The motor will not make any sound when trying to raise it. I had to manually raise the roof on the last camping trip and it took a lot of rotation with a ratchet. I have not found any blown fuses.

Far from an expert, but if it lowers there no no problem with the fuse, but it sure sounds like the high limit se\witch. Refer to the link to Roberts in my previous post. (And you can use a power drill to raise the roof, did it myself a few times.

I have a 2006 1610 Freedom series and the winch stopped working. After using the electric drill a couple of times, we opted to remove the winch and had a boat winch installed for about $60. I have never looked back!
