The marker lights on my pup weren't working. Everything else was working fine...indicators, brake, reverse, trailer brake all fine. 2015 Dodge Caravan. Dodge dealer said I need a new wiring harness (7 way plug) as there was some corrosion on it. So they put in a new wiring harness today. Got the van home and hooked up the pup and zilch...no lights at all and no trailer brake. Dodge service dept is now closed til 8am...where I will be at 7:30am and say hey you didn't fix it! Any predictions of what they didn't do properly?

Are you very sure it is not a wiring problem on your trailer? I would start with the ground wires. Likely they are all tied together with a "wire nut" and a couple have come loose.

If problem is on your truck you may have a blown fuse or they did not plug the new harness in correctly. The brake wire may not be part of the harness and may run forward by itself.

When I picked up the trailer from the RV dealer 3 weeks ago (brand new 2020 Rockwood Premier 2514g), myself and the RV tech noticed that the marker lights didn't work when we hooked it up to my Van. All the other lights and trailer brake worked fine. He then checked the trailer marker lights on the 7 way plug (the trailer plug) with a circuit tester or something he had and they definitely worked when he tested them. They came on.

Go to local auto parts store and get this:

Test your lights coming out of your van. Most likely a blown fuse. Not a bad habit to get into checking each time you connect

I would also recommend installing a voltage monitor/ battery monitor. That way you can make sure your vehicles power is getting to the trailer as there is a 30amp fuse buried in a box under the frame. Mine has popped a few times and never knew it.

I do have a multimeter for checking vdc level.

Is the fuse you mention the same fuse as the 40 amp fuse for the reverse polarity protector located in the converter panel on my rig? If that pops, the battery won't charge when driving.

On that note, how can you tell when a fuse pops? Is it visually obvious?

Multi meters are great and best to have one around, but my issue with my pop up was that the fuse would blow from the vehicles 12v. So there would be no power to charge while driving. I would have get under the trailer, open the electrical box and replace the fuse.

We ended up replacing with resettable circuit breaker. But once again, you would have to know when you don’t have power going in to trailer. Yep

You say your marker lights aren't working but all other lights are working.

If your actual tail lights (not brake lights) are working, but the marker lights are not, it's a trailer issue. They are (or should be) on the same circuit.

I should have said the tail lights weren't working too. Anyway, it's all working now. The new wiring harness in the TV solved the problem. And I was the problem by not plugging in the 7way plug completely after the new harness was installed (Newbie!)
