Campgrounds Great for Dogs
I am looking for campgrounds that specifically have great dog parks within them or areas close by. Ones I am aware of are Fort Desoto, PCB RV, and Gulf SP. I am even interested in hearing about large campsites with dog areas, such as the ones at St. Mary's KOA. Thanks!

Most (but not all) KOAs have dog parks. Some even have separate areas for small dogs and large dogs. Are you searching for a specific area? Your best bet is probably a 'Google' search for 'campground with dog parks near....'

Lake George RV Park
Lake George RV Park in New York has one of the best dog parks I have seen anywhere — not just at campgrounds, but anywhere:

Pegasus Farm Campground
One of the most relaxing, intimate and dog-friendly campgrounds I have ever been to is Pegasus Farm Campground in Elkins WV. There are no restrictions for dogs and they can wander the entire campground without being watched...if you trust your dog/s to stick around. If you see dog poop, you pick it up, whether it’s yours or not, but I have never needed to pick up after anybody else’s dogs. It’s really a fun experience for dog lovers. My three English Setters love that place — they come and go as they please, but they usually like to hang around with us.

The rail line that you can see in the picture is only used a few times per year for some kind of special tour/ride. I have never seen the train go by.

James Island county park in Charleston, SC has the best dog park we've even been to. It is probably 6 acres or so, and has a pond that the dogs can run and swim in. Our dog loved it there and there were lots of dogs to play with but it's HUGE so it's not crowded.
The campground is very nice as well with maybe full hookups (or at least water and electric) and relatively wooded sites that are decently spaced out. The park is probably a 15 minute drive from downtown Charleston
The park also hosts a drive through christmas light show most decembers (not sure about this one)

You have MULTIPLE dogs and you don't know what a dog park is?
I guess people with single dogs are more in need of a dog park because they don't have a built in buddy to play with.

It seems your experience was different but this is the dog "pawlicy" from the pegasus website:
1. All dog owners bringing a dog must present proof of recent vaccination from your vet (including kennel cough).
2. You must be willing to sign a liability waiver. You are responsible for your dog’s actions.
3. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. You are REQUIRED to dispose of POOP in YOUR trash. Not in fire grate or shower house!!!!!!!!!
4. Pit Bulls and Rottweillers and wolf hybrids are not allowed on the farm.
As much as I might like my dog to be able to roam free (if i trusted her) i'd be wary of other dogs roaming free, especially if I might have my dog on leash, as problems can occur when an unleashed dogs meets a leashed dog. That's why at a dog park you are supposed to bring your dog ON leash to the gate and then take OFF their leash in the corral before they enter the park where all the dogs are off leash.

Yes, I know that line in their rules has always been there, but once you are there and you meet and speak with the owners, that rule just doesn’t apply. I suppose if somebody complained, or if your dog was a problem, they might ask you to leash your dog/s, but it’s never happened to me or any others I have seen there who let their dogs run free.

Good to hear, it sounds like the rules are there if they need to be enforced, otherwise if everyone gets along and is respectful then they keep things loose. Makes sense, and sounds like a nice place, we'll keep it in mind when we're in the area.

Campgrounds that allow dogs
We've found the BRINGFIDO.COM to be a good resource when traveling with our dog. Following in the specific link for camping with your dogs. Recommended by Marley - woof woof.

The area in which I live has no dog parks, so I have never seen one. The nearest big city is 60 miles away so there could be one there. Maybe. I am envisioning a park with swings, slides, etc. for dogs?
or maybe my yard is like a dog park?

It would be a shame, though, to go there with expectations based on my experiences, only to find out they have decided to, or have been forced to enforce the leash rule at all times.
It’s still a really neat place to stay, but I don’t think I would tackle all of those mountains to get there if I knew my dogs couldn’t run free.

Come on out west. We live close to Sand Hollow SP in southern Utah. They have rv camping with full hookups on the west side and dry camping on the east side of the reservoir. You can pull your rig right up to the water and let the pups have some fun.
