Dog Is My Co-Pilot

Heart of Gold has a new co-pilot. "Trip" is a 15-month-old Labrador. It took a couple of weeks to figure-out what to name him. We originally called him "Chaos," an obvious name for a two-month-old puppy. He trails water all over the kitchen floor after drinking, so we thought of "Pavlov." When we walked him he kept getting underfoot, earning his name.

Cool. Nice looking pup. He'll make a good copilot.

We had a boxer named 'Sherman' because of his tendency to destroy anything in his path like a Sherman Tank.

We also though of calling him Hoover or Kirby, because he tries to eat everything he can. Then, there was Minefield after seeing the results of his backyard "visits."

Yeah, we have a young Springer...... when she hits the water bowl it's water everywhere in the kitchen. "Cleanup on isle 9" is a common callout when we mop the tile with a towel that sits next to her bowl. Good lookin' pup, btw.

We were going to check out a nearby lake for camp sites when we found out our Jeep's air conditioner did not work, so we piled Trip into the SunSeeker for the trip (pun intended). Every time one of us left a cockpit seat, Trip would jump into the seat and just sit there. He would get reluctant about vacating said seat. His manners were otherwise very good, aside from pressing the cockpit's electric window buttons. At 80 pounds, I'm glad he doesn't think he's a lap dog.

Some other names we briefly considered:
Pavlov - he drools all over the kitchen floor after drinking.
Raymond - Everyone who meets him seems to love him.
AT-AT - He's built like an Imperial Walker.

Trip seems like an appropriate name now that he really enjoys going on 'trips'.
Now that he's discovered the advantages of sitting in the copilot's seat, you're going to have a heck of a time convincing him that it's not his assigned seating.
