Have a trip scheduled this weekend and I told the wife I really just don't want to go. This is the 2nd time I've had to make a decision like this. I lost my other camping buddy in 2009. I know it will get easier, but it is a crushing blow right now.
How about some pics/stories of your 4 legged camping buddies help out.

Dang man I’m so sorry. My rescue pug “Chuckdaddy” passed back in December and it’s hard. Real hard. He did everything with me. Made hay, plowed gardens and went on every camping trip for the last 8 years. He was we think 13-14 years old.
Dogs are so hard to loose because they are so innocent and depend on us for everything. I have finally quit blaming myself for thinking he should have lived longer. I now say what a life I gave him and what a life he gave me. The emptiness is still in my heart even with me having 3 other rescues still.
Anyway sorry I’m rambling. The only advice I can give is when your ready do what I did. Reminisce on the times you guys had together and the life you were able to give him. What kind of life would he have had had you not rescued him. One will never know but one thing for sure. It sounds like he was treated really swell! Again I’m so sorry.

A dialog titled "MANAGE ATTACHMENTS" will pop up.
Click "Choose File."
In the file-picker, navigate to your photo and click Open.
If you wish, add up to four more.
Click "Upload"

My condolences to you. I feel your pain, I just lost my beloved camping buddy; Rusty who passed away four weeks ago at age 13 also. I am fortunate to still have my two other senior Labs to help lesson the pain. We took our first camping trip last week and the void was so present.

So sorry! I know how hard that bites! We had two JRTs and lost them 1 year apart...they were 16 and 14. We were forced to do the dirty deed for both babies. We bought a RV in the first place because of not wanting to leave them and they didn't get to enjoy it very long. We weren't planning to get another dog because they require a lot of special care while traveling. However, I love those creatures and my heart needed another one. 6 months later we found another to love. It was easier to travel without one, but not nearly as much fun.

Sorry to hear of your loss. We had two Yorkies that we had to put both down 2 months apart.down they loved to camp. 8 months later we found us another Yorkie as they are such great companions. Then my DW passed and now it me and my boy Mr Riley. When DW passed she had de a years work of camping trips and so in her honor I completed all but one. It helped with the loss. I'm glade I have by boy to go on trips with as it helps me. Later RJD

Lost and Found

I too am sorry for your loss. We lost our 14 year old Yorkie Bruno about a year ago, spent a rainy day in the camper some time after looking at rescue sites and came across Max, a 13 year old Papillion. Both are/were deaf as a post, but they add so much to our lives and our travels.

Miss Phoxie Lou

We lost our 17 year old Russian Blue kitty a year ago and it's still hard not to miss her. She was a rescue cat from Anaconda, MT and traveled with us all the time. She was a 35,000 mile cat, and had even done the ALCAN. What a companion and we miss her dearly

Sorry for your loss. I only remember one couple that traveled with a cat, they were camping in the UP of Michigan where we were camping and they walked the cat on a leash just like we did our dog.

So sorry for your loss. I can feel your pain also.
We lost our little camper at 13 years of age last August. Cancelled all reservations the rest of the year and will be going out camping again next month for the first time since then. It has taken that long to get back interested.
We still are feeling the loss though.

Lost my camping buddy

We lost ours 2 years ago! Missy and I were connected at the hip! She was a great dog and I miss her every day. My wife says we can't get another because she does not want to go thru that ever again.
I see her on my computer screen every day!!!

They sure leave a hole in your heart when they leave. Only thing bigger than the hurt when they go out of our lives, is the joy and happiness they bring when they come into our lives.

I had to put my English Setter down almost 2 years ago. He was 13. It was a very bad Saturday. I now have a 1-1/2 year old Lewellyn English Setter. He is asleep on the bed between me and the misses.

One of the best family members you could ever ask for.
Unlike others that only want to drink your beer.
She was a best friend and companion.
When camping she could be in the best squirrel chase of her life, with my permission of course, and on a single whistle she would immediately halt and come back in that running lope that only she would do.
Damn I'm sad now but its a good sad.
Miss you girl.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Nothing compares to the unconditional love of a dog.
