Lost my fur baby

After almost a year of her being sick and now two weeks of not being able to eat my baby passed this morning. She was strictly a house cat never liked to go outside or anywhere else for that matter. She didn't like going to the vets and the last time after he checked her kidneys she was especially sick when she got home. She was panting and trying to hide took everything I could think of to calm her down at this point I told her no more vet visits no matter what! I promised her and I kept that promise. We kept her happy for those two weeks because she was the type of animal who didn't like being alone. For the most part we let her do whatever made her happy she might of hurt during the final hours but I now feel guilty for not putting her down. After having to put other fur babies down I just couldn't let her die in a place she was very scared of. Maybe I was wrong but I feel I did right by her. As she picked the spot to leave us and just before passing she used her litter box like she always did and she seemed happy. Gypsey you have been missed for awhile now since you didn't do the things we were used to and now she is gone it is very quiet without her morning singing face to greet us.

We're so sad for you. We've been through it three times and sometime it will be four. As much as it hurts, we still want to help give pets a good life. And so do our kids, and they've been through it as well.

Don't feel guilty. We all do what we hope and pray is best for our little family members. Sometimes there is no correct answer.

Those that never have fur babies will never understand how we grieve so much when they pass. They are an integral part of our daily lives when we share our time with them. Our newest has his own way of making us his servants more than any of the others before, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Each one makes their mark on our heart that we always cherish and remember.

Our hearts go out to you for your loss and feelings.

We can certainly understand as we lost our fur baby last year after living with us for 19 years.

I'm so sorry that you lost Gypsey. You shouldn't feel guilty about your decision. You did what you thought best at the time.

Cats have always been a part of our family. Our current cat has a lot in common with Gypsey. She acts more like a dog... following us around, cuddling, talking to us, and is not fond of the vets office.

Hopefully the 'cat distribution system' will bring another fur baby to you soon.

I feel for you, these are not easy decisions. Ive had to make these calls many times and one is not easier than the other. Give your friend the time you need to grieve. I hope you can find a place in your heart to rescue another friend, there are many looking for forever homes. RIP.

So sorry for your loss, we know how hard it is. Please do not feel guilty, been there done that.

We lost Lillie our 15 year old Boxer mix about a week ago and still expert her to come around the corner. We were told about a month or two ago that she had liver cancer , an enlarged spleen and had serious arthritis in her back. Was told she hard to be in serious pain...... the only thing was she seemed fairly normal (for her). So we decided to let her live out her remaining life with us. For two months she got to do the many things she loved doing. the morning she passed she went outside did her business basically normal. She came inside laid down then got up walked into the hall fell down and never got up. I stayed with her until she passed less than an hour later.

The relationship between most people and their pets is very strong. My condolences. I have lost more than a few best friends over the years.

Sorry for your loss, it is tough. They truly become family.

Something to consider if you ever find yourself in that position again, several vets in our area will come directly to your home. (or wherever you choose for a final resting place) Your pet can remain in familiar surroundings right to the end.

Sorry for your loss. It is like losing any family member. We lost our 16 year old Zoey last week after two weeks of efforts to help her. She let us know she was done with our attempts and we performed the last kindness and sent her to the Rainbow Bridge while in our arms.
It never gets easier after so many that we have lost in the past. It is also hard on the sister she left behind. She has continued to look for her all week and does not yet realize, she is not coming back.

My eyes are leaking like crazy right now. I have had to take 3 dogs and a cat for their last ride and it still makes my cry. I hate loosing a pet but I will probably have a dog &/or a cat for most of my remaining days. My daughter told me that if we have any pets when our time on earth is done, she will take care o them util their time comes. That is one great daughter.

Thank you everybody. This morning when I got up no four legged alarm to go off at three but I still got up. Did my usual routine of taking my morning meds then making myself my cup of coffee. Sitting down on the couch to watch the morning news. And it hit me as I broke down into tears she was not there to sit in my lap as usual. It has been two days now boy what a trip as you remember the things she did that you tend to not realize you would notice. Thank you all and to the people who think I should get another thanks but I still have seven that live outside. 1 that is my shop cat and also the oldest Named Nermi she is around eleven years now. Four that are only two years old named Bucky, LK, Mittens and Boots. They are free during the day while I keep and eye on them Due to the road we live on and at night are kept in a pen it is cute to see them come when I call them and they walk into the pen to be locked up at night. Then there are the two halve ferals which are related to the four their aunts named scary and sweetie. they are the only ones that roam free as they were wild when we got them they are now friendly with me enough to let me pet them now. But the only difference is they are not house cats and never will be. No more pets in the house. It is way easier this way when we go somewhere I get my sister-in-law to take care of them until we get back. Like I said Gypsey will not be forgotten and we will miss her very much. I got her from pets and pals when she was almost two years old and felt sorry for her because nobody would adopt her. Not many people will adopt a older Black cat. But I did!!!! Again Thank you for all the kind words. Also I forgot to mention that all my fur babies are fixed so no more after these are gone.

I feel your pain....

We had to say good bye to our Jezebel earlier this year. She had one last roadtrip with her Daddy. She had a great time going to Pittsburgh to see family, then on to the PA wilds where she unsuccessfully hunted for a picture of a moose. She was a great roadtripper and will be very missed.

We are so sorry for your loss. We lost our cat to a miserable battle with cancer. It has been over 8 years and sometimes it will still bring tears to our eyes talking about her. It truly never hits you how integrated they are in your life until suddenly they’re not there and you miss all the little things they did, even the ones you might have found annoying at the time.

As a few others have said now, I think, we were fortunate enough that our vet offered to come to our home so that when it was time she’d be at home at least, on her favorite spot in her momma’s arms. She had been through so much as far as being poked and prodded by scary people in a scary place. We knew (like you did) that that was the last thing we’d ever want to do to her again if we could avoid it.

Hang in there❤️

When the time is right consider a rescue. There are tons of wonderful friends waiting for a road trip.
