Rescue Dogs

Stopped by a rescue just to take a look, not even really interested in taking one home, but sometimes a rescue shelter holds a real gem of a dog.

Congratulations on being rescued Swift!!

I was rescued 7 years ago as well by a black lab mix who was abused and skittish of everything. She came into my life and gave me love beyond any that I had ever had before. You are both lucky to have each other. I pray that your time together is adventurous and loving!

Congrats on rescuing Swift

We rescued one of are Pomeranian's her name is Charlotte a wolf sable Pom her story was was she was a puppy owned by a military family. She was playing on a bed and fell off and broke her back left leg the family decided for what ever reasons they didn't want to incur the vet bill to fix her leg so they surrendered her to the Southern CA Pomeranian rescue where we found her being fostered.

Once we saw her we knew she had to be part of our Family that was 9 years ago Her Sister Simba is a Party colored Pom who is now 11 years old round out our Family now

They Love to camp...Here we are at Yosemite

Rescues are the best. Most of ours have been. Our Alf is a rescue and in 9 weeks a tremendous change has come over him since when we first rescued him.

Congrats on your new puppy.

It's kinda like going to LOOK at new vehicles. Once they get you on the lot...half the work is done.

This sweet little lady had 2 hours to live before being euthanized. She's been with us for about 7 years now.

We got our black mix 7 years ago, abused dog. She is named Angel, and there is no don't that she is my personal Angel and love.

My daughter got the lab/redbone coon hound mix about 6 months ago, his siblings and he were all left in a mall parking lot in a box. He's a cool dude. He's turning into one heck of a great dog. That's him watching my daughter sleep. He's always against her if she's home.Click image for larger version

These are the kind of stories that make this old hard ass turn into marshmallow and eyes well up. I'm a major animal lover and especially a dog lover so thank you all for saving the lives of these babies.

I truly believe in rescuing dogs all but 1 of our dogs have been rescued, especially since our 1st one, when we went to the shelter to look for a companion for another dog we had at the time, we looked at a lot of the poor things but non for us, BUT then we noticed a beautiful dog being taken down the hall, to our horror he was going the be put down right then, we were told the he as returned 4 times because he was to wiled (active) so they brought him to the vowing area for us and all he did was run and run and run he wasn’t afraid just active and was kind, the lady apologizes and says she will find one for us, our reply was he’s the one for us,
He just needed room to run, and our property is 12 acers of land being worked every day,
Needless to say, when in the home he liked to sleep a lot LOL
He lived to be 14 years old and loved his life as we loved him,
His name was Chief

The back story. She was brought in to the rescue after being found along the road with two pups. My longtime vet thinks she is 2-3 yrs old and has had 3 or 4 litters. Full blooded Aussie Shepherd. Total couch potatoe for a herder. I wish I could find the pricks who had her. They would need rescued.

Meet Dori and Steinway in our old popup.

Dori (the hound at the back) is about 14 1/2. We got her at about 6 months old when someone found her in a ditch. She's a loving gal that's a bit mentally challenged. She's been camping alot around Texas, Louisiana and Colorado.

Steinway (aka the "terror") is about 10 months old now and a tripod. His initial owners ran over ran over him at about a month old and when the vet told them they need to amputate and it would cost a lot, they said "just put him to sleep" and left. The vets wouldn't, did the amputation, rehabbed him and then contacted us for possible adoption after about 2 months or so of rehab. He doesn't even know he's different. He's only been camping once so far, but we are heading out a few more times before the end of the year. Click image for larger version
