RVing with a parrot?

I have an Africa Grey. I have him in the loft above cab. Does anyone else travel with a parrot and what kind of problems may I encounter?

I've seen parrots camping in Wisconsin. Good conversation starters.

Saw someone with a parakeet in Illinois and somehow it got out and flew away. That's what I'd be most concerned about.

This past summer there was a couple next to us with an African Grey. The wife, while smiling, said the parrot was smarter and a better conversationalist than her hubby. The hubby, also smiling, said the only reason his wife keeps him around is because the damn bird didn't know how to cuss like a drunken sailor.

That seems to be common with many Parrots. Maybe their owners think that makes them more entertaining

We travel/camp with our parrot. He is a Quaker parrot about the size of a robin. He has over a 200 word vocabulary (no swearing). Our tt came with 2 recliners in the living room area. We removed one recliner to make room for his cage. To be legal in Ohio, his wings have to be clipped. Therefore he cannot fly away. Best thing is while I take him for a walk, I don’t have to worry about a leash or poop bag. He is also a kid and chick magnet.

My ex and I used to take our Amazon parrot with us. He had a great time and the only problem I had was every time we drove across any water, he would yell “WEEEEEEE” and scare the crap out of me.

Did you by chance name him "Maxwell" like the little pig in the Geico ad?

Smile RVing with Parrots

We have 4 parrots who often go with us on trips! We have an African Gray, a Quaker Parrot and 2 Umbrella Cockatoos. We replaced the dining room table with 2 double stackable cages. The issue to watch out for is certain states outlaw certain parrots. African Gray's are good to go but not Quaker Parrots. The Quakers are outlawed in 27 states last time I looked.

We have RV traveled with an Eclectus Parrot for the last 20 years, We bungee cord his cage to the drapery tie back hooks while traveling. Sometimes "Rocky" sets on the dash while traveling and he spreads his wings thinking he is flying as the MH rolls down the road. They adapt really well with the RV full time lifestyle that we enjoy. Our Chichuchu "Chico" and Rocky get along very well. Our Vet told us He's never seen a parrot who couldn't get along with a dog. Travel Safe! See ya down the road.

We are full time and travel with 4 parrots. We have a class A bunkhouse and the bunkhouse area is now the bird room. No problems at all .They love to travel and sing songs on the road. Like all parrots, they need attention. They are a hit at the campgrounds and have never caused us any trouble.

Wow. I wonder why Quakers are banned.

Our friends camp all summer with 2 parrots. They ride to the camper on her shoulders every weekend. Everyone likes seeing them around the campground. Our dogs aren't bothered by them eitber.

My wife and I have travelled over 5 years with our Timneh African Grey Parrot.
We keep her cage on our dining room table. She spends alot of time on a perch we have outside the camper. Her wings are clipped. She enjoys it. We just make sure our camper is never colder than 72 degrees when it gets cold out. Since we have travel trailer, she will ride in our truck in the back seat in a cage. She just hangs on to a cup and perch while on the road and asks for treats every now and then.
She loves people and is peaceful. Everyone wants to hold her and take pictures of her when we walk around the campground with her in a small clear plastic carrier. She does speak and people are always amazed by it. Your parrot will enjoy camping she gets to be with you in and outside. Enjoy.
