I am glad our two love it so much. Like I said, they can't wait to get in the truck to go. And they just love all the attention they get at the camp ground. Our girl is a shy one but the boy he just loves all the pets he gets.

Post some pics when you can! Every greyhound looks like a piece of living art.

Once I lost a Shih Tzu named Choo Choo. I couldn't get another dog for 2 years because it felt like I was betraying his memory and place. Then I got Constance, the sweetest, best natured dog in the whole wide world and I lost her after 11 years in November. We were devastated and cried for days, then moped around a few more. The next day I went and got a puppy. It didn't replace my love for Constance, but just gave me a new puppy dog to care for and love. They are quite different. It is healing for dog loss grief. And...she has a great home and loves us back. We are all having fun in her pack. It's a win win. So many dogs need homes...whether from a breeder or a shelter or a neighbor....You'd be blessing them with the opportunity of a good home and a chance to camp. Think of it that way too.

Favorite Video Friday – So God made a dog | No Dog About It Blog

We have three dogs, all rescues.

We have a senior citizen Cocker, Chelsea...stone deaf, and smart as a whip. We've taught her a doggie version of sign language. She's lived here longer than we have. I admired her when we came to view the house when it went up for sale. Owner just said "want her? we're moving to an apartment and can't take her, so she'll probably end up at the shelter". WTH? We call our dogs FIDS (kids with fur) That level of callousness burns me up.

Our (yes we admit it) favorite is what we're told is half poodle, half doxy. Poodle my arse, he'd be insulted by that. Imagine a standard sized doxy with the coat of an Irish Setter. Vet calls him Freddie the Miracle Dog. LSU Vet school gave him 2 days to live 3.5 years ago. He thought that was a BS call and proved 'em wrong.

Then we have what DH calls the domestic terrorist...Toby, a Tea Cup Chihuahua. I rescued him from the most horrific conditions you can imagine when he was eight weeks old.

Fred will be our camp dog. Chelsea can't go because of being deaf and *so* elderly. Toby is too much of a wild child but we hope to teach him camp manners soon.

No pics. I'll try to get some soon.

We lost Whitmore, our Yorkie camping buddy, after 15.5 years, and it seemed like we wouldn't be able to go on without him. But the mood without him became so miserable around our house that we had to do something.

It will sound unthinkable to some - and it didn't seem exactly right to me - that we would get a new puppy just 10 days later. But we had to do something. And in looking back, I think our new poodle puppy is what saved us. Might not work for everyone, but it's what we had to do. Whitmore will never be replaced, and his photo hangs on a wall of our camper every time we set up.

That is so sad, but I totally get it. I can only imagine the sadness! Congrats on the poodle puppy! What a great dog that is!!

AT the risk of sounding redundant, I just want to say that is exactly what we did when we lost our prescious Cavalier King Charles last Nov. Our new Yorkie Poo was so healing. She is quite a challenge and very energetic and spunky! We love our new puppy to pieces, even when she's bad! Also, repeating that so many doggies need good homes...camping homes are just a bonus!

p.s. Abby looks so cute...a little white angel! I love this thread...always makes me smile and warms my heart!
