Here are Bridgette and Scooter who went with us on our cross country trip (6400 miles) this summer. They are great travel dogs. We didn't bring our standard poodle with us. She does go beach camping with us though. Her name is Bella.Click image for larger version

All are beautiful but corgis are so special. My Rosey still loves road trips at 10 and she is such a sweet companion. Happy tails! Or nubbies!

Please do not let your pets ride in the front seat, in your lap especially when driving. It is illegal to allow your pets to be in your lap while driving and I have worked 3 accidents where the airbag has killed pets in the passenger seat or in laps. I have even worked a dog fatality with the dog in the front floorboard. They were in an accident where the truck bumped the guardrail and the passenger stomped down crushing the dogs rib cage and killing it when the airbag went off the passenger's face.

Again, please do not let your pets ride in the front seats or in your lap. If you love your pet you will keep them safely in the back.

"Typically," they ride in the back seat of the quad-cab.

Xandra Sophia, and Neo.

And yes, you can get the Pro Game from the stadium, with her ears.

At bare minimum, in the back seat. I have also seen dogs survive in a kennel/cage with injuries that are conducive to being trapped inside it while rolling around but at least they're alive.

They actually make a dog harness that attaches to a seat belt. You can purchase them from many places.

I have seen at a rollover accident where a person had manufactured a cable between the two back seat roof handles with a center point loop. At that loop he attached a short "leash" that was attached to a harness, that would allow the dog to go to each window but could not put his head all the way out or jump out of an open window..

The vehicle was totaled, the dog was tossed about and shaken up but alive. I don't know if it is completely safe but I am going to make one myself.

Note: Also an unrestrained pet can panic after an accident and run away from the scene usually through traffic where they can be struck by another vehicle. If the pet gets safely away you may spend a lot of time and effort in finding them if at all.
