Where do I start?

Well after several weeks of missing my ole friend Toby whom was with me from a pup onwards for almost 11 years its been way to lonely in the shop.
My dear daughter and I rescued "max" today from the local shelter.

He's got a lot to learn as he was never trained properly but does know basic commands.
Sit,shake and lay.
It was a very tough decision but I figured get back on that horse.
He's already settled in the shop and is very happy that we rescued him.
We also sponsored another lab at the shelter with a donation.
Max came to the shelter after the owners couldn't take care of him.
He was hit by a car and was removed from the owners care because they refused to pay for treatment.
I urge all of you that dont want to or cant have pets to please look up your local pet shelter and donate what you can to help these pets live till there adopted.

I sure hope he doesn't miss beer thirsty as max and I are going to cheer to Toby this evening.

Thanks to all your support on my previous thread
RIP TOBY.

Good for you, Turbs, in both giving Max a new home and sponsoring a pup at the shelter!

Have a great time training him! He's a beaut!

Max is a three year old Labrador retriever.
He came to the shelter a mere 65#
He's healthier 89# now.

He's a FINE lookin guy Turbs!

(dusty keyboard)

He may not know how lucky he is yet, but he will figure that out right quick! Looks like he's already very settled and content. I know it's a relief when they get away from all the barking that goes on at the shelters.

Toby's gotta be smiling big time.

Give that feller a hug for me! And a bacon treat of course.

You did the right thing Turbs.

"Maybe" we'll get to introduce Max and Fred at Goshen this year.

I'm guessing training for Max will include acting as a lookout during clandestine golf cart activities in Goshen.

Good for you! Looks like a great dog, and thanks for going the route of adopting from the shelter (and for sponsoring another dog, too). He will be another great long-time companion for you guys.

Congrats! We just picked up two cats from the Humane Society right after Christmas while dropping of our usual donations of dog and cat food. It had been a while since the last cat and we were ready. They are pretty sweet girls and think they realize they have hit the jackpot. $10 each to adopt, $600 at PetSmart on supplies and goodies, the warmth and fun they provide; priceless!

To all of you who either rescue abandoned animals or donate to their causes, let me say Thank You on their behalf.

We here in the DFW Metroplex occasionally hear of how some low life humans mistreat animals and I'm sure it's not just here that it happens. Why people do this is beyond me and my DW's imagination.

Turbs - glad to see that you got another dog and look forward to seeing how he trains you and your family. Keep the pictures coming.
