AC Relay

We have a 2018 SolAire 251-RBSS, and it is out in an area that is getting pretty cold at night. I think this is the first time we've had to run the furnace full time overnight.

With the thermostat set at a comfortable temperature, have noticed that there is a relay in the AC housing that starts clicking 3 or 4 times just before the heater comes on, then clicks almost constantly (every few seconds) while the heater is running.
Is this normal behavior?

The startup clicking is normal. Personally I have never heard the repeated clicking when the furnace is running.

What thermostat do you have?

If it's a Dometic LCD single zone, try initializing it and see if that helps.

P.S. Those thermostats use digital communications, so all the relays are in the A/C control box in the ceiling.

Yes, that is the thermostat we have. Is initializing an easy process (I can dig out the manual if it's a major process). Thanks.

Here's the procedure.

Quote:
System Initialization
A system initialization will need to be performed by the installer after the system is installed.
• Make sure the Single Zone LCD thermostat is in the Off condition. See page 4, “Quick Reference To Control Buttons”.
• Press the “+” button and, while holding it, also press and hold the On/Off Mode button for three seconds. LCD will show ― ― . Press the On/Off Mode button again to turn system off.
This completes the initialization.

Cool! It's CTRL+ALT+DEL, except on a thermostat. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot next stop.
