use of your unit and knowledge of the past use is the best knowledge. I have not found a tank sensor yet that is worth a lot.

I have found with the black water tank that a lot of water works will to clean your sensors in the tank. When we dump for the last time before breaking camp, I will us the black tank flush to clean the tank. As this is being done my wife is filling a bucket to dump water down the toilet. She usually dumps between 5 and 6 buckets full. The bucket size is approximately is a 10 to 12 quart bucket. This seems to keep the black tank sensors clean.
Now as far as the gray tank we just live with a 1/3 full sensor light lit.

See Level has the best reviews but none of them work great all the time. When the toilet starts to burp you're getting close!

I haven't depended on sensors to tell me when to dump the black tank. It tells me when it's almost time by burping when flushed. The grey water sensors seem to work but again I go when I think they should be dropped. I have gotten caught with the bathroom grey water filling up the bottom of the shower a few times but that was me not doing what I should have.

After over 40 years of owning an RV of one type or another I have, after the first RV, never checked my holding tanks status with the gauges. You can tell when tanks are getting full by experience and proceed accordingly. No matter what you do, the tank sensors will eventually screw up and you're back to square one. I don't even try to clean them anymore.

I bought a 90 deg gargen hose fitting at home depot and put on a brass nozzle. I hook to the hose and step on the toilet flusher holding it open, turn on the nozzle then lower into the black tank turning it 360 deg. Seems to keep the tank clean and the sensors working.

Most of my stays are a month. After dumping for the last time before hitting the road. I add 1/2 cup of Dawn Dish liquid and 1/2 cup of Calgon water softener and 1/3 tank of water. I may even leave it in there for a day or two. Dump, rinse, and viola - sensors clean.

look down into the tank ...
I've never trusted any of our tank sensors, and now don't even look at them, ... the fresh water tank showed full before any water was ever put in it, it's translucent so I can look under the trailer to see it's level, ... I figure if we ever get backup in the shower(which we never have), then its full and needs dumping, ... and I look thru the toilet down into the black tank to see how its doing, I know not all toilets have a straight down sight into the BT, but ours does and that's a fool proof method to know the condition of that tank, sensors aren't always reliable, ...
getting a good look down into the BT was hindered by the water spray when the foot flush valve was pushed, UNTIL I installed a shutoff valve on that line, ... but that valve is handy in more ways than just that, if we ever have a flush valve leak, I can use that valve to control that area until we get back home or get the leak repair, without having to shut off water to the whole trailer, ... same thing when boon-docking and wanting to control water usage to the max, it gives me the ability to fully control the amount of water the toilet is using, ... a very handy and useful mod, ...

You can try dumping a bag of ice in the tank before you leave on a trip or after dumping. When driving the ice bangs around in the tank and can clean the sensors off. It worked for me on my old 2005 Eagle. Once clean the tank sprayer is all I had to use.
I need to try the Dawn/Calgon thing too.
