Thanks for that info. As a new travel trailer owner I would like to know what the is best method to test to determine if the towing vehicle is providing power to charge the batteries please? Thanks. BTW I am towing with a 2011 Ford F150 Lariat with the Class IV tt package.

Open your tow plug receptacle lid and check for voltage with the engine on and with the key/engine off at pin/blade # 4.

Probably only charging when the vehicle is turned on. Check the battery voltage on your trailer with the engine off followed by the engine running. If the voltage goes up, the truck is charging the batteries. Don't get to excited about that charge though. Will likely only be a couple of amps. There are things you can do to increase it if it's important that it charges your battery at a higher current though.

Easy Peasy

Test the voltage of your battery bank. If charged it will be 12.6 or so.

Hook to the truck. Start the engine. Test your rv battery again.

13.1 or less is a trickle charge from the tv. More is better but, not likely.

Few trucks do better.
