DSI

I have a Solaire 240bhs. When I turn on my hot water a DSI fault light comes on. The water still heats up but does this mean I am working only off propane and not the shore power I am hooked up to? Any thoughts?

DSI would mean the propane is not working, could be a lot of possibility's

Do you have propane? Is it turned on?
Have you purged the lines? Running the stove will help but it still could take a number of cycles to get the air out.
Spider webs in the gas tube.
Turn it off, then have someone turn it one while you are at the WH.
Do you smell gas?
Do you hear and see a spark?

Check the ECO/High Limit reset on the wh behind the outside panel. If your wh is both LP and electric there will be 2 of them, one for electric and one for LP.

What is the make and model number of your wh?

Does it come on the very first time after you turn on the propane or after subsequent uses? If the light comes on only once, I wouldn't worry about it. If it happens repeatedly, could be a weak igniter or a flame sensor that is on its way out.

Mine, A DSI light comes ON temporary or initially until the pilot unit lights... Then the red light goes out and the water heats... with Gas. I think this is normal. for me anyway

The light should only come on temporarily. It's a problem if it stays on

This thread, particular the first post, and the #5 post will fully explain your DSI (which is only applicable to the propane burner)....as well as what the fault/reset lamp is for.
