Fantastic Fan in Bathroom - What Vent Cover?

Do I need to buy the Fan Mate 850 Vent Cover or can I just go with a MaxxAir II? Has anyone had any experience with the Fantastic Fan and these vent covers?

Good question, I was wondering the same thing. When I went through the PDI, the dealer advised me to not put any cover over the fan. But I would like to keep the rain out when open and I think we would use it more if it had a cover.

Doesn't the fan have a plastic flange as opposed to a normal vent having a aluminium one? If so any problems or special installation requirements for mounting to the plastic?

I have the fan mate 850 setup in the bathroom, it was the cover recomended by the dealer so that it would not restrict the airflow of the fantastic fan.The fan can move alot of air in or out. The FF has a plastic cover that opens fully inside of the 850 no problem. I leave it open all the time and set the thermostat on the FF to pull hot air out when we are not there.

Fan-tastic makes a cover as well, cheaper price than the 850. Anyone use it or have any feedback on it?

I have the fantastic fan vent cover and it seems to work fine. To install it you take 4 screws out of the fantastic fan housing and install the brackets using there supplied larger screws.

Found this video, I did notice they did not compare it to the 850.

I think I like the way the 850 faces downward to help with windswept rain

Vent Cover

I have a Windjammer 3001W with vent fan in the bathroom that has a flat lid on it. I purchased the new max air vent cover and it did not fit. The cover would hardly open before hitting the vent cover. I don't know what will fit it. Regards; Frank

Vent Cover

I checked the paper work and I have a Create A Breeze unit. I will check out the Fan Tastic cover and see if that will work over this model. Frank

From what I've read Create-A-Breeze is a Fan-tastic fan product. On the Fan-tastic fan web site for the Ultra Breeze Vent Cover:

Fits over most 14"x 14" roof vents and
high-powered ventilators, including all
Fan-Tastic Vents

Why isn't it working? Is it that you can't get it to install properly or that you installed it and the fan won't work? I have one on my Fantastic Fan and it was easy to install and the airflow is great. Here is a quote from the Maxx Air website: "The Maxxair II can be safely installed over high powered RV ventilator fans; however our Fan/Mate is specifically designed for this application and allows higher air flow from your existing ventilator fan."
Let us know what kind of problems you are having with it.

Vent Cover

backin 15: Thanks for your reply. The fan in my RV is the Create A Breeze model from Fantastic Fan. This model has a larger cover so when the Max Air II is placed over it the cover will only crank up about an inch. I have installed the Max Air on the two other vents and they installed perfectly. I missed that on your earlier post. I didn't know they used a larger cover on the Create A Breeze. My fan cover also doesn't go up very far but I get plenty of airflow. It does go up more than an inch, probably about 4 inches. Too bad it won't work, it is a nice cover.

I recommend using a Maxx Air Fan Mate cover, so does Maxx Air.
