Jack placement to change flat

Can somebody tell me where to place the jack in order to change a flat on a 30 ft Puma? I've heard to place it under the axle at the leaf spring and I heard not to do that but rather on the frame near the tire. The axle looks like it may not stand up to the pressure from a bottle jack focused on a small area of the arc of the axle tube. I can't find a damn thing about lifting the trailer in the manual.

You can place it under the tube between the U bolts holding the spring and the axle together, it will take it without leaving a mark. You can even go beyond the inner U bolt if needed, but just a few inches at most. You can bend the axle if you jack it in the middle or close to it, the tube won't crush but it could bend upwards and change the axle alignment.

Once you have the tire off DO NOT go under it at all for any reason.

Thanks SK. I've been scratching my head two days over this. I'm an amateur blacksmith (if I exaggerate) and thought about forming a heavy "U" bracket from 1/2 inch medium carbon steel. to fit on the end of the saddle and snug around the axle. But thats a lot of sugar for a quarter if I don't need it.

There would be nothing wrong with that (I'd sooooo have an anvil if I only had space.) but it's not necessary.

A saddle would be awesome though, so if you make one be sure to post pics!
