looking at Sabre 33RETS
I am looking to get a 5th wheel and family liked this model at RV show this weekend. Question is how are the Sabre's holding up and what is everyone pulling with. I have a 2006 Chevy CC DD/Alison 4x4 shortbed, I know the truck will pull it but will it be safe. Don't want to overload it. We usually go to a park 40 miles away and then to Table Rock lake which is 5 hours away. Thanks in advance.

I have a sabre 32bhok-6 and we love it.
No major issues in a year and a half.
I recently pulled it with my 05 Silverado 6.0L 2500hd 4door.
Now I have an 08 dmax ext cab 2500hd.
My 6.0 pulled it fine as we camp within an hour or so from home.
Were looking to venture further out.

Welcome to the forum. We've had our 2013 34REQS-6 since last April and really like it. It's parked on our seasonal site and we've used it alot with no major issues. Dealer replaced one of the day/night shades because a string frayed and broke. Another string was starting to fray so I learned how to restring that one myself, took about 15 minutes.

We love ours. Had it about 18 months and about 3000 miles. Had a couple of problems, speaker quit and one slide needed adjusted. Dealer sent me a new speaker at my request and I adjusted the slide with no problems. Dealer is 250 miles away for a 30 minute job. IMHO I don't think you will be disappointed.

We've had minor issues with our Sabre 36QBOK. Nothing that has required us to go back to the dealer yet. I'm not very handy- but the dealer is inconvenient to get to since few places sold Sabres near me, so I've been tackling more than I normally would.
All told, we're VERY happy with the camper.

Very happy with ours...bought 9/12', have taken 5 camp trips since then, no complaints on unit in whole...as with all other campers, just minor stuff to adjust as I did myself.
Great camper for the price point, you will not be disappointed

Another happy Sabre owner, we bought our 34RLQS last summer and really do like it. Only had a few minor problems that I took care of myself.

We have the 31RETS and have been very happy with it. We used it for weekend trips right after we got it ( Nov 2010 ). We have since switched to full time and have been been full timing for over a year now. It has held up well and we have had very few problems.
YMMV

Thanks for all the responses. I noticed that a lot of you are pulling with 3/4 tons. How do they handle the Sabre's. Like I had in the original post I have a 06 Chevy duramax CC/SB 4X4,air bags, the gentlem that had it before me had the bags installed and he left the rails in the bed. Picked up a slider last summer, got E rated tires. Everyone says I will be okay. What are your thoughts. Again thanks
Going to KC to show this weekend.

we too have the 31rets6, and could not be happier. you dont say where you are from, but you might want the second a/c unit. we listened to the dealer saying it wouldnt be necessary. he was wrong also, be sure to close all cabinet doors when bring slides in. the door is not mightier than the slide. dont ask how i know, i just do

X2 on what dwaynerz said...if you are in hot country, the second ac is a must. And yep, you wanna make sure them cabinet doors are closed before you bring the slides in...
As far as towing with a 3/4 ton, mine handles just fine, though I think mine is a little lighter that what you are looking at. Just be sure to check your weights (what you can) and stay within the ratings of your tow vehicle.

X2 on checking your weights. When I pull out the driveway for a 10 day vacation, I'm 58 pounds over GVWR 9200 LBS. If you add a second air, that will add about 80 to 100 pounds to the hitch weight. Just fyi.

31rets-6
We've had ours for three seasons and about 16,000 miles, including a trip to Alaska. After getting all the minor bugs out the first year, it's been doing great. I wish mine was wired for the 2nd AC also. All that glass in the slides warms it up quite a bit. I pull with a one ton Ford, no issues.
