no power to rear furrion port

Hi everyone. We haven't camped for decades and are new to having a camper. Clearly, we need some help ! We just bought a 2019 RL182 and my husband is trying to connect a back up camera to the rear furrion port. There doesn't seem to be power in the pig tail wire. The camera works fine with the tester cable. All the electricals in the camper work fine. Can anyone tell us where we should troubleshoot ?

Welcome, Flying fox.

I see this is your first post - you'll get SOME good advice and a LOT of opinions here (and will meet all kinds of people).

The camera pigtail ("Furrion port" - like a 3.5mm stereo jack) out back is run to one of the running lights. These lights (and now your camera) is entirely powered by the tow vehicle via the 7-pin connector when you're hitched up. You need to connect the tow vehicle, connect the 7-pin, then turn the headlights ON on the tow vehicle (not auto-on, but FULL on) and you'll have power to the pigtail.

Furrion (and some others) also have a port next to the cigarette lighter end for the monitor, that they call a pairing port (you can plug the camera into it, so that it's next to the monitor, and touch the pairing buttons on both, if necessary). Most cameras come pre-paired, so it's not much of an issue, but available for convenience.

Note: If your tow vehicle has LED lights, you MAY have an issue getting enough power to the camera (the PWM issue). Give the above a try and come back and let us know how you did.

Just my .02 - hope this help.
