Puma XLE Lite 27QBC

Hello, all -



I'm new to this forum, but have been using it for research for quite a while. I am likely to buy a new 2020 Puma XLE Lite 27QBC next month. My local dealer already had one ordered, so I'm just waiting for it to arrive.


I like to know all the details about something before I make a big purchase. While I know that no RV is perfect, I want to make sure it's at least decent and will last with proper maintenance.



On that note, I have been searching for some time to find out what the floor decking material is for this unit. In the brochure, it says "One-piece, 24' Sheet, 5/8" Floor Decking (25 Year manufacturer’s limited warranty)." That's all I can find. My dealer doesn't know for sure, and I've emailed the manufacturer with no response (which is unsettling as well).


So, does anyone know what the floor is made of? Plywood? OSB? PVC?


Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have same trailer. The floor is plywood. Has linoleum covering. I do love my camper. I have already done some mods. As with all RVs now you may have some minor things that need fixing. Does the one that dealer ordered have the generator. I would not go without one ever again after having mine. Just push button and away you go. I ordered mine specific to my needs. Hope you enjoy as much as we do.

I'm glad you're enjoying the camper - that's the goal for us all...

Plywood floors are decent. They have good durability and are easy to repair. BUT - how in the **** do they get a 24 foot piece of that? That would be new to me...

The 27QBC ordered by the dealer did not have a generator included, but I plan to get the Champion duel fuel and mount it on a rack on the trailer tongue (https://www.amazon.com/Stromberg-Car...3416271&sr=8-7). I would prefer a propane genny anyway.

The one they ordered was nearly what I would order, except they were able to add a patio kit at the factory, which the wife really wants.

We've done a lot of searching, and this unit seems to fit our list of needs and wants. There's always going to be a down side to any rig, in this case it might be the overall length. We like to go to national parks, so it will likely fit in some, but not all, camp sites.

Your mods are good and have given me some ideas. Feel free to give any input you have about this unit. The rig is supposed to be delivered in early to mid April (which is good since the roads should not be salted anymore going from Indiana to Florida), so I'm using this time to get ahead of the game...

Make sure you get the bigger 3500 champion duel fuel generator. The duel fuel puts out less on propane than gas.

On my old Cherokee 26rr I had my duel fuel working off quick disconnect I had in front of rig. Did not get to use it much. I did not like the hassle of hooking it up. New camper I can pull in to truck stop on hot day push button for generator and have air. No set up.

Yeah, I saw that front cap. I didn't realize that was an option. How much was the out the door price for your 27QBC ? (if it's ok to ask...)

Have a 2017 Puma 31RLQS, best trailer we have had. Only problem was water heater circuit board, easy fix. Also have Champion 3500 dual fuel which has worked great. Also had to put check valve on inlet side of water pump (common problem with these pumps). No complaints with Puma quality.

Around $27,000. I paid sales tax and permanent plates back in my home state of PA. Drove to Ohio to pick up it was about 7 to 10,000 less then locals wanted.

I am curious to know how much of a drop I will need on the hitch. The distance from the ground to the inside-top of my receiver is about 23".


AND - Can you give specifics on what materials you used for your fence post sewer mod and where you found those cabinet doors? They looked nice...

Yeah the options I got were, Black tank flush, ladder, electric/gas water heater, recliners, the happy jack bed single, bedroom tv hook up, outdoor tv hookup, aluminum rims, night shades, pump station. Here is build sheet

The cabinet doors I found at Bontragers salvage in Michigan just over the Ohio border. Great people. You can get just about anything you would need to fix or mod your camper. When I went out to Ohio wanna RV with my brother last year to pick up his, I said I would go and help inspect his if he took me there.

Don’t know height on tongue and ball. My camper sits on an incline while stored so can’t give those measurements. If your truck sits high you will probably need an extended shank drop from the standard one. What are you using for wdh? I have mine set on last avail holes. Probably could go down one more hole.

The fence post mod is 5 “ pvc fence post with end caps and a pvc gutter for holder. You can find that mod under “pimp my 26rr. “ That shows my mods on my previous TT.

Some other thoughts...
Is there any input on decent 6 volt AGM batteries? I prefer those over the standard flooded cells. I'd like to get the Duracells from Sam's, but they don't carry them around here and Batteries Plus doesn't seem to have good options, either.

And - I have read many people do not trust the tires that come on new trailers (china bombs) and some immediately replace them. Apparently Goodyear Endurance and Carlisle are supposed to be good. Does anybody think it's worth the money to buy new tires for the new trailer?

I have not changed the tires on the last two new trailers. Most on here would say I’m pushing my luck. I keep a good eye on them. Don’t curb them. Keep inflated and Run under 70mph.
