Question on holding tank

Should I put clean water in the holding tanks between trips? If so, how much?

I have the luxury of being able to dump at home so I always keep my holding tanks full between trips. That way nothing gets a chance to harden.

I always put three gallons of chemically treated water back into the black tank after dumping. I leave the two grey tanks and fresh water tank empty.

you should NEVER leave the black tank empty!
the gray would be fine empty.
