Rear mount spare tire

While driving today I came up behind another 5th wheel with the drop down tray/bike rack on the rear. The unit was in the up position and had a spare tire mounted to it. It looked like that even when the rack is folded down the tire still had enough clearance and could remain there.

Has anyone attempted this with a flip down rack system on a Palomino, Sabre specifically? I really like the space in the forward storage that the tire sits in and could store items that I rarely need but want to have with me.

I will look around to see if I can find pictures of something similar.

Thanks,
Gary

My spare is under the rear of the trailer. It is on a crank down mount like a pickup truck.

BAL Hide-A-Spare, will store the spare UNDER the RV and out of the way, ... it may be the answer to what you're looking for, ... works great and easy to install, just gotta pick the right one for your frame design(link below), ....
