The island was one of the main reasons we chose the Columbus. Didn't like the tight closed in feeling of most permanent islands, we love the flexibility of this one. It provides great cooking/serving space. It backs up to the couch and fastens with a strap on both sides for travel. Sits nice and tight. We did have an issue where the wheels shifted and broke through the heat vent in front of the couch. Remedied by moving the wheels farther back so they no longer come near the vent.

We have the island that is movable in our 320 and love it. It does have straps that lock it down and it. does ride secure has never moved for 10,000 miles that we put on it so far. The drawers in one end had very weak bottoms and had to replace the drawers. Otherwise have had no trouble with it. It is really handy to be able to move it around to the table or couch when camping for extra table space. Most of our meal preparation is done on that counter.

We have a 5th with the rolling island. Before traveling, we roll it to the couch, put the locks on the wheels and strap in down with the straps that are provided. We then pull in our slides. This table has never budged while traveling. Don't worry about it.

Had similar concerns with chairs bouncing around in camper. After 20k miles, have not lost or scratched a chair using the strap that came with the unit. Only issues I have had is our puppy thinks it a tugging toy for her to use.

We have a 320RS with the rolling island. We have had no issues thus far with it moving once secured tightly with the straps. We actually really like it being able to be positioned at various places depending on what we are doing. Pretty good storage as well.

Hi Capt. Mike, We have a 320RS with the island that moved, yes moved, it no longer does. One time we forget to tie it down and when we got to where we were going, luckily it didn't do ant damage because I didn't make any quick stops. For some it is handy to be able to move it if they want more room to lay out sleeping bags for overnighters, but if you don't have them, having it nailed down is a little peace of mind.

Rolling kitchen island
We have friends in Columbus OH that purchased one three years ago and yes, their island is strapped down for travelling and rests between the slides when they are in. It does not move at all and they have had no issues with it. They love it because they can move it around as needed when camping. If they have extra company in for a while, it makes it easy to have room for entertaining etc.

We own 2014 Columbus by palomino 320 RS
with rolling island and have had no issues during transport. Push island back to rear of unit(in front of couch) lock wheels, fasten straps and away you go. We store many kitchen items in island with no problems.

We've had our 320 RS for 3 years. No problems with the island. As mentioned, once it's strapped down & the wheels locked, it goes nowhere. It's nice being able to move it which gives us room to square dance...not that we do square dance. It just gives us the room if we wanted to.

Columbus rolling island
I have a 2014 320RS with the rolling island. I put the front wheels on rubber coasters and just tighten the hold down straps. The island never moves.

Thanks, everybody, for your responses. I think this should be sufficient to alleviate DW's apprehension regarding the island.
One other question, if I may: I've always liked the exterior colors of the Columbus, with the cream and dark brown. They now have an exterior option that includes gray and white. Have not seen one, and am hoping that they have one on display at the STL RV show later this month. Has anybody seen or bought one, and what are your thoughts? If you bought it in that color, why?
Thanks

We have ad zero problems with ours. The slides, when retracted, keep it in place. I do place a blanket over it during travel to make sure no wood-on-wood contact is made.
We love the flexibility of the moveable island. No wasted space for dinette, which is better used for our 2 leather lazy boys!
