Slide In-OP. Need good contact at Lippert
This might be a bit confusing but hopefully it will be clearer when you view the photos. Think laying on your back looking up into the bottom of the trailer.
I have a 2014 Sabre 32RCTS with an in-frame electric slide. Yesterday my slide would only come in about 10 inches before hitting a hard stop. After a bit of investigation I found what looks like a small welded protrusion in the forward outer rail. This is what the inner rail is hitting preventing the slide from retracting. What the heck it is doing there is beyond me. There are wear pads that allow the inner rail to slide smoothly within the outer rail. (I learned a lot doing this) When I cut open the bottom of the rig where the front rail was binding the "squished wear pad" fell out.
So my thinking is that this protrusion over the years has been taking out the wear pad slowly. The protrusion is off center and I think it just kept hitting the wear pad but being off center the pad kept turning and there was just enough clearance to gouge over it for a bit before the pad finally failed. Without the pad the inner rail rides at the top of the outer and hits the protrusion. Without the pad it would be metal on metal as the slide moved.
I have a mobile guy coming out on Thursday. Luckily the rig was parked in front of my home when this happened. My thought is to grind off the protrusion, but how to get a wear pad in does not look easy, I will attempt to contact Lippert and FR on Monday and get some guidance. I believe this is a Lippert issue and FR will be of little assistance. The rig is out of warranty and my dealer has gone belly up.
If anyone has any input or some really good contacts or ideas can you please let me know.
I hope the pictures come through.
