Tires
Picked up my Sabre 32RCTS this week, Was very surprised to see it had Westlake tires mounted instead of the Akuret. Don't know if this is good or bad. ( I don't think there really are ANY good trailer tires) I did order the Trail Air Equa Flex Suspension. Don't know if that makes a difference or not?

In July 2012, I had the same suspension and Akuret tires. I now have Maxxis tires.

Tire change
Did you change them out as a precaution or did you have problems? I wonder if Forest River went to the Westlake for a reason other than they might be .05 cents cheaper?

I got a nail in one tire- can hardly blame the tire for that! I put the spare on. The, just before the next trip, I noticed another tire had a tennis-ball size bubble on the outside of the tire. When we unmounted it, the tire shop found 2 more bigger bubbles on the inside. Since I had to replace 2 anyway, I got 4 new tires.
The tire distributor accepted it as a warranty issue and is sending me a check for $88.

I run those Westlakes on our QBOK, we just put about 1000 miles on them the last three weeks in 95 plus air temp and probably 115-125 road temps and had no issues at all. I checked them 2-3 times when we stopped and (using back of hand) checked for excessive heat inside and out on sidewalls....nothing. Keep checking your pressures, avoid potholes/bad bridgejoints if you can and most importantly keep your speed in check 60-65 you will be fine. I've had a virgin Bridgestone go *bang* for an unknown reason before. You can only check the things that are visible, not the things that may be going on inside the tire.

For those looking for the tires rubbing issue for the 36QBOK, I moved it into its own thread:

I have Westlake tires on my Columbus 320. In June I made a round trip to No Dakota with total miles about 2250. Several other short trips of 150 to 200 miles. So far so good I keep a close eye on them with inflation and keep speed under 65 most all the time. I will likely change them after one year if they go that far.

Since my last post, we've been from Maine to Florida with the Westlakes with no problems at all. I checked them for excessive heat etc at every fuel stop. If they perform like they have this summer, they may live to see next summer (but that will be it). It's all about staying off the curbs and proper inflation/road speed.

I am now in MN from FL on Wesflajes on my Columbus 320. Tread is perfect, always same temp at fuel stops, pressures checked and monitored, speed held to 58-60 mph. Laser alignment checked by Lippert in Goshen IN and all measured within 1/16". Pretty good so far.
