I can't imagine that this won't be amended for Canadian's or any english language license for that matter. Looks like it slipped though for now.

Does the license reciprocating agreements already in place between the US states and Canadian provinces trump this anyway ???

What a rip off.

I got one for our trip to Germany a few years ago but the rental car company never asked to see it.

Okay............so maybe us Canajuns say "eh?" every so often, but I think we can all agree we still basically speak English eh?

Quoted in the news today.................

Kirsten Olsen-Doolan, a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, confirmed to CTVNews.ca on Thursday that state law now requires Canadians and other non-U.S. citizens to carry an international driving permit in addition to their regular driver's licence.
She said Florida quietly brought the new requirement into law on Jan. 1, though few people even noticed the new rules at first.
"I don't think anyone was honestly tuned into it until some British folks started asking about it, and then you guys started asking about it," Olsen-Doolan said.
The new legislation wasn't intended to inconvenience or upset anyone, she said, adding "we love our Canadians and we want you to come visit!"
The point, she said, was simply to ensure that all drivers in Florida carry licences written in a language that police officers can read and understand.
Lawmakers didn't take into account the fact that Canadian licences are already in English, and the department is now seeking "to make it clear that a license already written in English would be acceptable," she said.

We do have 49 other very nice states that have their own unique flavor, I would suggest skipping FL.

This was a knee jerk---------

This was a knee jerk law passed because of counter-fitting of FLORIDA drivers license. This law is not to be a inconvenience to our Canadian friends.
It was basically pointed at the illegals that are here in Florida that have some way came into possession of a in-valid Florida drivers license.
