That was awful...Just bought it in June...Just glad no one got hurt. Sounds like he was trying to avoid someone cutting him off and lost it. Could have happened with a big rig.

The main thing is that all passengers were not hurt, and no vehicles were involved.
That puppy looks longer that 29 feet. Is that Rockwood Signature Ultralite on the back ?? If so, that might be a 8293SS, listed at 31.5". If so, a bit long to be pulled by a 130" wheelbased vehicle.
It would be interesting to know what type of WDH and sway control he was using.
Regardless, sometimes these things just happen.....and without injury to themselves or others, the people were very lucky.

That sure looks eerily similar to our TT, an 8293RKSS! Roof and back end is exactly the same as ours. He obviously hasn't been reading these forums regarding hanging bicycles from the bumper.....
Glad everyone came through okay. I've always said you can be the most conscientuous, careful driver in the world; it's everyone else you have to be on the lookout for!

This is a case where's it's probably better to hit the car instead of swerving to avoid it. I try to tell my brain that, but in an emergency, there's not much thinking involved...you just react.

Swerved once to avoid a deer and was REAL close to rolling my Durango. I've been told to just hit the deer, but you're right, your first instinct is always to swerve. Hope I'm never in that situation again, but deer are everywhere here in Wisconsin.

there is a reason I won't swerve to avoid a wreak I'll ram into someone pulling out in front than try to avoid it I think in my truck it would do some damage but nothing like if I roll the truck and camper

Yes, the one on the right has shelves and the one on the left is one big cabinet where we store our easy up and other tall things.

Wreck
Glad they were not injured. Cutoff probably never looked in the mirror...
Going through Nashville 2nd morning of Branson trip had a flamer cut my Sunseeker off. ABS kept me straight and upright. I could have sworn I got a whiff of scorched paint. Or was that my britches.. Never mind.

Similar wreck this evening on the approach to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. TV coverage was spotty, but it looked like maybe a 25' TT towed by a Dodge SUV.

Going through Atlanta a few months ago, had a car stop right in front of me to look at somebody pulled off the side of the hiway. Had to do a brake check and a horn test! I had nowhere to go except up his rearend. Lucky it didn't end my trip.
Not actually a question about the accident in the article; how much do those solar panels weigh?

"Not actually a question about the accident in the article; how much do those solar panels weigh? " 25 lbs maybe. Not enough to make it more top heavy. I am sure they played no part in the accident.

just my two cents, but i don't swerve. i'll hold the line to hold my center of gravity and brake and lay down the horn. i just use a big truck F250. sucks they had the wreck, glad they're ok and glad they had insurance. as far as wildlife goes, i don't swerve, statistically, more people are hurt or killed by avoiding animals. driving defensively is an obvious choice but there seems to be too many idiots on the highway that don't see a travel trailer or motorcycles or can't judge distances and speed.

Slowing down to make a turn. Need to know what's behind you. But it looks like the Flagstaff held up well.

+1 to that.
My only comment would be (as a motorcycle rider myself) there are a lot motorcyclist out there that think that the rules of the road don't apply to them. I had to avoid killing a biker yesterday when he deiced to use a right turn lane as a passing lane. He cut over in front of the car he was passing just as I was pulling out. Luckily I didn't have the camper attached.
It's just sad what the country is coming to with all the "me first" attitudes.
Just one more reason I love camping and the folks that I meet while doing it.
