I own a Sunseeker 3100SS and also another brand travel trailer which I am trying to sell. I had a buyer from Canada but they couldn't buy it because it didn't have the Trailer Load Carrying Capacity Information Label and Tire Pressure Label on it as required by 49 CFR 571.110. The manufacturer had replaced the walls and then went out of business. They didn't affix labels on the new wall. I have tried DOT, NHTSA, State BMV and Title Section, Ohio Highway Patrol and their salvage division. No one can tell me where I can get replacements and I can't sell it in Canada without them. I think the sale is already ruined and now I will advertise not for sale in Canada. This still leaves me without the stickers. The Sergeant at the Patrol didn't know if I was legal to tow it without the stickers or not. Ohio doesn't do annual inspections but I know some states like PA do. Does anyone know if they check for those stickers? I have my Representative working on it but so far it's been a week and no information. I asked the manager at the large body shop where I had it repaired what they did if a label was destroyed. He said they didn't worry about it. Another person I know who manages a large RV sales and service said he had no idea either. Any help would be appreciated. Need to get the trailer sold so I'm back down to just the FR.
Seems to me if the Federal Government can mandate the stickers they should have a system in place to replace damaged or illegible stickers.
