10 year's cancer-free
About this time 10 years ago, we met a doctor in the pediatric ICU at Hopkins who broke the news to us that our daughter had a brain tumor- later we found it was cancerous. She endured multiple surgeries and localized radiation treatments to the tumor bed.
Today, she's a vibrant and beautiful young lady. An amazing daughter, big sister, student, and friend. We're blessed to say she's side effect free; is above grade level; and has no physical deficits from it.
Just thought I'd share with my friends here.
Shortly after her first surgery to remove the tumor:
Here she's the boss on her last day of treatment (April 2005):
And here she is from just a couple of weeks ago:

What a heartwarming and uplifting story! Thanks for sharing it with us. Regardless of what some may think, miracles occur all around us that we sometimes don't recognize.
I love the picture of your daughter on the butterfly bench. She has wings to soar to great places.

It takes a lot of love and perseverance to get through a crisis like that and it becomes very personal to everyone when it involves a child. Congratulations to you and your family.

As you all post comments, know that I'm thankful to you for them but I don't think I'll be able to keep it together to respond. (hugs)

Looks like she was trooper from the git-go, running down the hall with an IV hooked up. And such a beautiful, smart young lady now.
Doug, thanks for sharing your story.
