$1600 impulse buy

So the wife and I was supposed to go to a bar with some friends, but they backed out at the last second. We wound up just doing dinner ourselves. On the way home at around 9:00, I wanted to stop at home depot to get some stain for the cabin trim. While we are there, Kelly has to use the restroom and you have to walk thru the appliance section to get to them. While I am waiting on her, I start looking at some refrigerators. We had planned at some time in the not too distant future to buy a new one and take our old one to the cabin.

Kelly really wanted a French-door unit, in stainless, with a bottom drawer freezer. My only consideration was I wanted a Whirlpool (because its Made in USA, and its NOT a GE). I was pretty much shocked at some of the prices. I'm talking $3000 and UP for a FRIDGE! LG and Samsung are really proud of their stuff. Down at the end of the display, like a little lost puppy, was a solitary Whirlpool fridge. Exactly what we both wanted. I sashay down and I see the price is $1660. Hmmm. Then the old salesman comes up and talks to me, and says that they have a sale running that ends that day for an extra 10% off. Kelly comes out, looks it over and finds it more than acceptable, so we did the deal.

I stop in to buy a quart of stain, and accidentally wound up buying a fridge. I'm still not sure how that happened. I gotta stay out of Home Depot. This is getting expensive!

That is not at all funny. Coming home from a 5 week trip to Montana with 2 other couples we stopped in Tyler, TX. for a couple of days. Went to a local RV dealer to pick up a tube of Dicor. Went to find wife and she was sitting on the sofa of our current unit. Did some haggling and bought this on. Being slightly heavier than previous rig I then bought a new truck with higher load capacity.

Dealer threw in a free tube of Dicor

Gotta love free Dicor....somehow i'm sure they worked it into the price of the trailer

But thanks for the heads up on Home Depot, I will definitely keep my wife out of there.

My wife aint the problem... lol. I thought I went over the top when I literally impulse bought 2 toilets there a couple years ago. I needed some deck screws, and... as I was walking to the register, they had a display of "on sale" toilets. I remember thinking to myself "that's a good price on a toilet" and I picked up two.

The people at Home Depot greet me like the folks in Cheers greets Norm when I walk in. I don't know how I am gonna break the news to them when I am done with the cabin...
