I saw this of course they haven’t mentioned payload. Might be awesome following statement not reflected of truck. How many cities were worried about electric grid during heat wave and now gonna plug in all our cars

So, if you die out on some remote road, do you call AAA and say "Bring me a bucket of electrons"??????

I would be more interested in how long it takes to recharge. I don't care if it would go 600 miles - if it takes 10 hours to recharge it is useless, IMO.
If the range is only 100 miles but it recharges in 5 minutes - that's a whole 'nother deal.

I guess a generator would be optional. Maybe you could add a few solar panels.
I did read where they are releasing a hybrid F-150 that is expected to be released officially in 2020.

Well, it's not still rolling down a track somewhere, so I assume it can.
Or the train cars have brakes. Just like our trailers do.

as long as ford doesnt skimp on the charger it should be able to charge rather quickly.
it is definitely not going to have 600 miles of range, maybe 300 but i doubt it.

no, you refuel it before it gets to that point, just like any vehicle. do you run your truck out of gas constantly? i doubt it.

no, it would be much faster to tow it to a charging station. solar panels would maybe add 5 miles a day. if that.

For some reason this discussion is making me think of the discussions that ensued when transitioning from horse and buggy to automobiles . That period of history makes for very interesting reading.
I am very curious to see what form personal transportation takes in the future. I fear I will not see a definitive, dramatic change in my lifetime though (like horses to combustion engines)
Electric may well be the future, but the battery is the big bottle neck that needs to be advanced IMHO.

A hybrid system if a true hybrid might be a good alternative. Would require a larger battery bank but eliminates many parts like alternator and starter that eventually go bad and need to be replaced. Also the power steering and AC compressor are not driven by a belt.
We have a Camry Hybrid that is 13 years old and the only things needing replaced so far are the 12 volt battery in the trunk last year and 2 tire pressure sensors.

Based on Advertised vs Actual fuel economy on my previous 2013 f-150 ecoboost, Id say if they end up advertising a 300 mile range, it's more likely 75 miles..L

Twenty years ago I ran out of gas 1/2 mile from the gas station. That was on an interstate highway where there were very limited stations. The 5 miles a day might just be enough.
Remember while reading the forum that some of the writers use a sense of humor in their replies. I really liked "BandJCarm" comment about running out of gas on a remote road.
There are more and more families using solar power on their sail boats. Some people are reporting they can run almost all day at reduced power to maintain headway while waiting for the wind to pick back up.

I know people use solar power on their sailboats but you are saying they actually propel their boats with an electric motor? Never heard of this.
