Any ice fishermen out there.

With this cold weather this weekend I can't stop thinking about the ice fishing season coming up. We have had fishable ice here is sw Wyoming on thanksgiving weekend the last 3 years. With the dry summer and lower water levels it shouldn't be a problem again this year.

How many ice fishermen are there in this forum besides just me?

I don't know if there are any other ice fishermen on this forum, but I have to say you guys are a different breed.

The most difficult thing about ice fishing is not the catching....... it's the cooking . Damn things all melt before ya can get it cooked !!

I can't say that I am, but my brother sure is. He fishes more during the winter than any other time of the year. Although last year in OH, he was only able to get out on the ice a couple times all year. Way too warm.

I am the same way. I don't fish a whole lot during summer months but come ice I won't miss a weekend. We kinda had a warm winter last season also, my local lake didn't even completely freeze. But there was fishable ice all season.

I know one weekend last year, my brother pushed his small 2 person boat out onto the lake and drilled sitting in the boat! On the way back in he paddled and pulled.

My husbands uncle is a die hard ice fisherman. Hes been rescued by the coast guard on ice chunks that break away more then he would like to admit. He believes there is better fishing the closer you get to open water.

I haven't done any ice fishing myself when I lived in Alberta, but a few of my coworkers did. I have seen a nice little portable wooden shed that can dragged out to the frozen ice.

Counting down the days wyo700! I am hoping to be fishing Firehole by Thanksgiving weekend. I spent the lastr three days at Holmes Crossing, getting in one last camping trip for the season. Kept staring at the lake wishing I was ice fishing!

I'm sure we have seen each other down there at Thanksgiving! I have been there the last three years. Hoping we have enough ice to do it again this year!

Yeah, I ice fish. Got a nice little 2-man Otter fish house that uses a black snow sled as the base. Put a propane Big Buddy in there and it's nice and comfy. Normally I just go for pan fish.
