I know its not a submarine movie but the book Thunder Below! published in 1992, depicts the WW ll exploits of the USS Barb. This book reads like a movie and probably should be. Best sub book I have ever read.

I always preferred The Bedford Incident until Das Boot came out. Lots of good ones out there.

I think that since Das Boot has subtitles, it puts off many people. But if you're a WWII history fan, Das Boot is the best.

Not mentioned yet
I have not seen a mention of "Wolfs Call"
Of the 2 in question, I pick both.

Exactly. Personally the second I see a subtitle I'm out. I don't want to watch words, might as well read the book.

Apples and oranges, both are great. So is Das Boot. I put my fish on down Periscope as the best but not accurate movie. Hunt for Red October has many faults but it’s the best modern era movie about this topic.
Crimson tide is too over the top for me.
