Colorado Blizzard

A record breaking blizzard is passing through Colorado dropping 20 inches of snow in some places that have already experienced record snowfall & avalanches. Both Denver International Airport and Colorado Springs Airport are closed, Interstates/state highways are closed and there are numerous power outages. The unique part of this storm is the record setting low pressure center of 971 millibars which resulted in up to 92mph winds in some front range locations (80mph at Denver International Airport). The resulting very strong winds are creating 10-foot drifts. Unfortunately a state trooper lost his life assisting a stranded motorist.

This storm has the potential to generate very severe weather as it propagates to the east...

Colorado Blizzard

We are in Pagosa Springs this week on a skiing spring break. Wolf creek ski area has had over 50” since we got here. Several avalanche blasts over the past several days. Wind, non-stop snow and low hanging clouds have made this a unique ski event for us both skiing on the mountain and driving back and forth. Today was just too cold with temps in the teens and winds from 35-75mph. Tomorrow is supposed to be even colder with winds out of the north.

This is our 7th trip here and it has ever been this severe. Great place to visit for sure.

This is what we have been experiencing all year up in Lake Tahoe. 533 inches so far at the ski resort we go to.

weather is bad but the snow is good & very much needed . since last year saw very little snow water levels have been dropping in all areas . this should help fill some reservoirs that are at historic lows . keep the snow coming for a few more weeks .

We've been watching your weather patterns from PA. Hope you're all safe and warm there. My son just moved back to PA last year...lived in Monument and Castle Rock for a while. Beautiful country in nice weather!

It's passing through the midwest today, calling for gusts up to 60 mph with travel warnings.

It has been a long winter. I read that Los Angeles did not get above 70 degrees in February for the first time in 136 years!

But, March will go out like a Lamb!

The bomb cyclone caused a train to derail off a bridge in New Mexico. News also showed semis and RVs turned over up by Wagon Mound.

I believe we never hit one day of average temps. Most days was 10° below normal. We still did our camping though. Did 3 trips between January and now somewhat locally. Was still warm enough to wear shorts!

I was planning my first trip right down I25 for the day after. Moved it to next week.

Blow the clutch in my TR4 outside of Wagon Mound NM December 20th, 68' coming home form the Navy. Tow bill to Springer cost more than the clutch. I always drive REALLY FAST past WM when I'm in the area.

March to June is the windy season down here for us. Need to be cautious and keep an eye out for the weather.

Yup, got plenty of sea stories going home from the Navy.

What's the difference between a sea story and a fairy tale?

The fairy tale starts out "Once upon a time".

The sea story starts out "This is no s**t" .
